Unpopular Opinion: I think backdooring is unsportsmanlike

Desperate last ditch attempt at ending a game without playing the game. You and your team have decided that you probably won't/can't win a decisive team fight so you take the easy way out and make sure the winning enemy team isn't paying attention so you can sneaky deaky your way into their base and PvE your way to victory. It takes the fun out of the competitive PvP aspect of the game, it removes the skill and thrill of outplaying someone (inb4 "b-b-but you outplayed them by outsm-sm-smarting them!" get away from me), and it feels all around bad to be winning and doing really well and just have someone sneak behind your team and kill a Nexus before the ENTIRELY TOO LONG recall timer sends you back to base to defend. Split pushing is annoying, but I don't really have a problem with it. But I can't stand backdooring. Just ruins games, man.

Backdooring means your team misplayed and didn't either A: have someone back at base to defend or B: have someone keep their teleport up to defend base.

It's legit just your teams'(and therefore also your) fault if you let the enemy team backdoor you lol.

It's not just unpopular, it's a really stupid opinion.

Yeah, it's so mean for people to win the game when you're busy not winning the game. It interferes with your Call of Duty Simulator! 3:

Here's the thing, if you're "already winning", you wouldn't have your nexus open. Backdooring is not "sneaky", if you expect it. Keep someone at the base to defend. If you're the better teamfight comp, of course they're not going to teamfight because there's no chance in hell of winning unless it becomes a fiesta. If your team plays a teamfight using their brains at all, you'll win. It's literally the only strategy to win against the better teamfight comp is to NOT teamfight and take them on one at a time, but if they don't split up, you have to make them split up. Riot can't possibly keep every champion at such a state that they have a 50/50 chance of winning a teamfight against everyone else, there are too many team comps to plan that against. They have over 150 champions at this point, with 5v5 the team comp possibilities to balance that against are endless, so if a comp has a better teamfight, you can't fight them, whatsoever in a team environment. If you want teamfights with no option of the team ignoring teamfights, play ARAM. It's teamfights all the time and the only way backdooring is possible is with stealth champs.

Yeah dick move. Either backs should be shorter or tp back to 240 sec. In turn respawn timers should be longer. So if you fucked up the enemy has a lot of time punish you. Because they actually won.

Saezio2/9/2020, 10:41:28 PM4 votes

You are so wrong.

The team that allows the backdoor means they only want to teamfight. Go play another game that is a deathmatch. Kills don't matter in league, only the nexus destruction matters. That's what defines the winning and losing team.

L2p, and L2 push waves. Jesus. xD

it's as legitimate a way to win as any other lol. sure you can consider it unsporting but then what else should be considered unsporting? why are pople playing aphelios when he's obviously overtuned so it's obviously not the fairest matchup? that's unsporting. why do people play champions with unfun kits in general? that's unsporting lol. perhaps a champion you play is one of these. you see?

At the end of the day, it's a strategy based game Macro should matter more than Micro. The goal of the game has always been to kill the enemy nexus, while keeping yours alive, kills, gold and buffs are merely there to supplement this process. That aside, backdooring an enemy team that you have no chance of defeating head-on is one of the best feelings this game has to offer. All the honor and praise you'll receive from your teammates + the extremely salty postgame chat certainly makes them more memorable than your average everyday game.

Yeah it's annoying, but when I see a problem champion on the enemy team that no one on my team will focus, like say a fed Lucian or Darius, I'm going to be split pushing. Sometimes it's successful and sometimes it's not.

DJisKxng2/9/2020, 8:20:02 PM3 votes

Unsportsmanship is all over this game man. People will do anything to win such as master yi taric funnel. People don't care and nobody gives a flying crap about integrity. You win, you win, doesn't matter how you do it.

Done252/9/2020, 10:32:01 PM2 votes

If people are backdooring it probably means the game is at a late game stalemate, and neither side can push into the base due to too much wave clear from both teams.

Poot Lovato2/9/2020, 11:13:53 PM2 votes

But it does make sense - all the people in favor of backdooring aren't interested in fun games; they're interested in wins. In a ranked mind set, anything goes and do whatever it takes. I just think that mindset takes what little bit of fun is left in League of Legends™ out.

it's actually hilarious how obvious it is that this dude just lost a close game to a backdoor and has taken to the forums to vent his salt

mirAcIe2/10/2020, 9:02:02 AM2 votes

The goal of the game is to destroy the Nexus. There is no additional honor in doing it with minions marching along with you when you do it. You, as a player, are free to defend against backdooring, because you are also not obligated to go down the lane where the minions go. You should think outside the box a little.

Salty Mc Feed2/10/2020, 9:19:24 AM2 votes

Not defending your nexus and being sore loser is unsportsmanlike.....pretty much the same niveau as people who complain about "tryharding".

[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

In times were people pick Soraka/Sona top backdooring, splitpushing is a really strong tactic to win games.

Demolish, Trinity Force and Sanguine Blade are OP for that purpose.

well if you think backdooring is unsportsmanlike, I wonder how much bming or taunting is unsportsmanlike for you. Jk, bming and taunting is pretty annoying but you can't stop them from doing it. Anyways, so you must think xpeke with his incredible backdoors are unsportsmanlike. If your nexus towers are down, then you have to pink up. Sweep areas, ward in top and bottom of your jungle. Push out waves safely and they literally cannot backdoor unless no one defends it.

"MY OPINION IS LAW AND EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES IS WRONG AND A BAD PLAYER"

Don't come to a DISCUSSION board if you're committed to stifling discussion.

If other games have backdoor protection then go play them. If you choose to play something that isn't fun over something that is then that's entirely on you.
