I want to enjoy this game, but the new HUD actively prevents me from doing so.

Please note that this post is from my perspective, which many people share. No, I don't care if it's not accurate for every single person. I want you to still be able to choose the new hud if you want. This is about the viewpoint against the hud, with a bit about why both sides should be represented. I'm not here to argue about what's objectively better or worse, I'm here to say what I see.

I'm honestly about to give up on this game completely. I've played and had fun for a few years with it now, and dumped quite a bit of cash in. I like playing normals with my friends, and did so almost daily. Sometimes I wouldn't agree with a change, but it didn't affect me too much normally. With this newest update, I can't even enjoy this game. I know there are many others who feel the same, and many more who like the new one. The community is very obviously split on this issue. I really do want to play this game again, but that's not going to happen with this new HUD. I've seen what they're doing to "fix it" on the PBE, and it only solves one of several huge issues that upset me enough to keep me from even opening the game. Every excuse that I've seen for them not giving a toggle option is quite honestly total bullshit. The most common one is that they don't have enough resources for both, that's a consideration that should have been made before a change of this caliber. There was plenty of PBE feedback to warn them about it. They're a big enough company that they can afford to take on more people if need be to do this.

I can't stand the emptiness of the screen as it is now. It constantly irks me seeing that there's nothing covering the empty parts of the screen, especially because what belongs there is now cramped into about a fourth of the screen. There is no use for the spots where the items and champion portraits used to be besides hud placement. Nothing that happens in the game is going to be changed because that spot is now open. I've heard the complaints about red side botlane needing the items moved, and that's simply not true. I mained support and play mostly locked screen in lane. There were no visibility problems of any consequence from that being there. The items and store being separate from everything actually made sense, as they've got nothing to do with the rest of the HUD. Putting the portraits over the minimap only clutters the space and serves as a distraction when you're looking for something else. The same goes for the score, which should be in the otherwise useless top right corner. Whatever they have up there now is not nearly large enough to be of any use.

The stats window is functionally worse than the old one, especially because of the size and placement of it. People with bad vision have been complaining the entire time about how it's hard to tell what is what. I know they're finally fixing the cooldowns and green numbers on the PBE, but that isn't nearly enough. Based on their "fixes", nothing remotely useful is going to be changed on the new HUD. I find myself becoming incredibly upset just by looking at this hud and thinking about how this whole thing has been handled. Riot is basically just glossing over anyone who suggests something like this and acting as if people universally accept this forced update. All I want is the option for players to choose which one they want. If you like the new hud, stay with it. If you can't stand the new hud, use the old one. Everyone has a preference, and the ability to choose would leave every player happy. I'm going to stick around for awhile to see if this kind of change actually happens, but if it doesn't then I suppose that'll be farewell.
