My friends tell me that i suck in league and that im in silver 1 because i only play broken champions, My mains are Veigar, Annie and Fizz. I just love burst mages overall. But do they actually require no skill?

Doesn't really matter because it doesn't correspond to how good you are at a player.

A challenger guy playing Garen is still a better player than me playing (or, more accurately, trying to play) Azir.

Who cares? If you are successful with them and enjoy playing them just play them.

They definitely require skill, just a different type of skill.

Is Annie Bot challenger because Annie is brainless? I don't know how good he is or not, but making it that far on Annie shows that there is some skill in it. Your skills are more about decision making instead of animation cancelling. And honestly decision making is a more important skill to have than most other skills once you have baseline cs.

uh... Fizz is an assassin not a mage.

Most of the time when people die to Veigar it's because they don't understand how the champ works.

If they required no skill, your friend would be much higher Elo. (Assuming he's below masters)

Annie requires timing, positioning and basic understanding of enemy cool downs and trading. Vaigar and Annie might be more simple champs, but they allow you to learn and practice the core fundamentals of midlane.

Your friend who is playing shit like zed in platinum or whatever, doesn't know what he's doing.

Keep playing simple champs, it allows you to play the game rather then play the champion.

Their kit is simple and straightforward. You don't have to be a genius to press R and oneshot someone. With Annie however you need good positioning and you have to keep an eye on the cooldowns of your enemies.

Challenge your friends to go silver 1 with these champions.

To be honnest every champion require skill, some champions require less mecanics but then they require more positioning since they are mostly non mobiles champions.

No champion is no skill.

Sounds like your friend is salty due to getting blown up by those champs in the past. To directly answer your question: yes, they require skill. All of those champs used to require a lot less skill though, and had far less counterplay. Maybe your friend is remembering from back then.
