Tank Yi should not work

I have seen in a few Aram's and Poro King games where a Master Yi will build nothing but tank items. For some reason with his natural scaling he is able to deal massive amounts of damage compared to the champs that are designed to be tanks. Bruisers are designed to be tanky with a decent amount of damage, Tanks are designed to be tanky with damage as a second thought. Yi is an assasin, with secondary fighter, building full tank should not allow him to have almost the same amount of kill potential with much much more survive-ability than i think was intended.

IF you build tank on Vayne she does the same. Probably even more dmg.

Sooo, you're against the idea of a Champion building items that help compensate for their weakness?

Yi is a squishy champ, and building some tanky items, at the cost of sacrificing DPS, is a viable option. It's impossible for "tank" Yi to match the dps output of a 6 item assassin Yi, so there are sacrifices made for him to be tanky.

That's like saying Darius shouldn't be allowed to build movespeed items, because being slow is supposed to be his weakness.

Yi has no cc, he scales off of AS and flat AD (and on-hit effects). Against a competent team, tank (more bruiser) Yi won't work. Meanwhile Mundo and Tahm :')

Have you seen Cowsep play? He builds tank basically every game. Devourer-Rageblade-Tank.

It's actually been a thing for ages. Almost no Master Yis outside bronze or Smurf accounts actually get away with running straight damage, most build at least one tank item, usually two.

Really, it's a healthier play pattern and is the side of Yi that should be encouraged.

Yi functions exceptionally well as a bruiser. Unlike other assassins, his ultimate does not grant a large amount of immediate burst, so in order to get the full value out of it you need to survive.

Same way Tank Kha, Tank Rengar, and Tank Ekko have all been things. Assassins have ridiculously high base damage, they don't need to build any more.

So go tank ADC or tank Mid and beat him. If he goes tanky, he has some DPS only when he ults.
