Can muting a player also mute the player's ping?

Last game I was running away from a Katharina and I had low up, my sona teammate flashes between Kat and I so Kat e onto her and killed me. I told sona to watch my danger pings after I died, sona for god knows why started flaming me. I muted her but as she realized she started spam pinging me.

Imagine how much better my last game would have been if i can't see nor hear spam pinging me all game long after I mute her.
