What the hell is wrong with your definition of buffs, Riot?

When handing out post-holiday season buffs, there was no way we could leave out League's very own Anchor-man. Similar to our Sejuani changes in 4.21, we think Nautilus has acceptable weaknesses in the beginning phases, and we're not looking to change that here; rather, new scalings on his shield (remember, maximum health vs. bonus health is a significant change) makes Titan's Wrath hold pretty even - until Nautilus hits his 2nd health item, where he starts to see significant gains. W - Titan's Wrath BASE SHIELD STRENGTH 100/150/200/250/300 ⇒ 65/70/75/80/85 SHIELD SCALING 15% bonus health ⇒ 7/9.5/12/14.5/17% maximum health

Math: Assuming Naut has 3k hp and has rank 5 w:

Old **300 + 15% (450) = 750 Shield

New 85 + 17% (510) = 595 Shield**

You HAVE GOT to be kidding me.

Hell, theoretically naut doesn't even break even at 10k HP!

Old **300 + 15% (1500) = 1800 Shield

New 85 + 17% (1700) = 1785 Shield**

Please, go redefine your concept of buff, Riot.

your math is wrong old shield only accounted for bonus hp... which does NOT include the 2000-ish base hp he has while new shield accounting for his TOTAL health does account for the 2000-ish base hp

Nautilus item 3083item 3083 item 3083 item 3083 item 3083 item 3083 anyways who cares what his build is for now this guy will have 6838 hp

new shield gives him gives him shield strength 1247 old shield gives him shield strength of 1020

its a weak buff imo

Naut's buffs are theoretically fine man... the key issue is that health/armor/mr are still shit stats in this meta.

To follow up on this with some math:

Assuming Naut is lvl 18 (according to the wiki, that's 2038 base hp) with item 3068 only:

Old 300 + 15% of bonus [450] (68) = 368 Shield

New 85 + 17% of maximum [2488] (423) = 508 Shield

Assuming Naut is lvl 18, with (sample build): item 3068 item 3102 item 3083 item 3800 item 3056 item 3111

Old 300 + 15% of bonus [2500] (375) = 675 Shield

New 85 + 17% of maxiumum [4538] (771) = 856 Shield

Allow me to correct you math. My numbers will be a bit different s the 3k health reference point is not a solid starting ground because naut could reach 3k health through multiple ways.

The following assumes you have 21 points in defensive masteries and no health runes. It also assumes Nuat is jungling with a machete 2 pot start.

Old (at lv 1)

100 + 15% of bonus health (5.832) = 105.382

New

65 + 7% of maximum (44.1252) = 109.1252

This isn't a huge buff at lv 1, but as riot mentioned it doesn't really start to kick in until about the 2nd health item. Let's view the change at full build.

The following assumes the same as earlier, but with a completed build Juggernaut Enchant, Randuins, Banshees veil, Warmogs, mobi boots, and frozen hearts (checked probuilds.net for some recent builds).

Old (at lv 18)

300 + 15% of bonus health (337.5) = 637.5

New (at lv 18)

85 + 17% of maximum health (728.96) = 813.96

as you can see the shield gives you about 28% more health in the end game than it used to. I would certainly say that's a buff. Remember the difference between something that scales off bonus stats, and something that scales off maximum stats. The old shield only scaled off bonus health, which never took advantage off the 500 - 2k base health that Nautilus will have during the game. The 10 health Nautilus would only get around 1200 health from the old shield rather than the 1500 you though he would get.

REMEMBER KIDS double check what you read if it doesn't make sense.

Holy shit you are bad at math...
