A few questions about items and counter picks.

I see some people go for 2-3 Doran Rings/Blades before they build their first core item, why and how does this work and for which champions? Vladimir is said to be countered by Riven, how can I keep my lane even if not winning against a Riven?

I don't know about 3 blades. some people will get a second if they are behind. but 3 would delay your core build too much.

People who are getting 2-3 rings are probably doing so in lieu of a normal Mana Item. A lot of these champs can kill their opponents before mana ever becomes a problem.

I don't know where the argument of Vald Counters Riven. If you try that matchup, you would have to pool before she does her ki burst, to prevent from getting hammered. But with Riven's lack of sustain, you should do fairly well if you can avoid getting bursted down. in which, Vlad would win the extended trade.

From what I remember, Vladamir counter's Tanks, because Tanks lack the Bursting power to really punish Vlad's weak early game. while Vlad slowly sustains of the enemy.

dorans blade is typically only the right thing to build when you have to back but dont have the gold to get anything that builds into your core items, dorans ring is more about the fact that it give really good mana regeneration so on ap mids that arent going to build a mana item, it helps their sustain the early stages of the game. and on the vlad vs. riven matchup, from what i know its not actually bad for vlad, just dont let yourself get all-inned and poke her down with your q early, and also make sure she doesnt shove the wave into tower, as she can harass under turret well, and vlad isnt the best at farming under turret
