If you're gonna steal, steal this.

First off, stealing is wrong, but it happens, so here is a little advice on when to steal if you so choose to steal from your teammates.

If you want to steal a role from someone, make sure you steal Mid and give up Top lane, its the least annoying to steal because of the overlap in positions played and skill to play these roles. Generally Top is easier to play so if you take Mid lane it might piss off your teammate at first, but its a little less stress with all the warding and roaming that may need to happen at Mid lane. So if you're gonna steal any role in champ select, the least offensive is this specific steal. Its a gamble regardless, because you're gambling on your teammates being both players that want to secure a win, and forgiving.

If you steal Top for mid or any other role, you are asking to lose for sure. The reason being, Top is a lower skilled lane in general, and the person playing it may be betting on needing that lane to excel.

If you steal a support, and its a support main, or a duo bot lane, you risk a double flame or a highly skilled support having little or no play time in other lanes which leaves your team with an open feeding frenzy for the would be sup laning in a different role.

If you steal a jungle and the person is trying to main and carry as jungle, chances are they are not very nice, and will hate you for the entire game, because these people are high skill players who don't tolerate nonsense from dumb rule breaking, so if you want to win, never steal from a Jungler, unless they say they don't normally Jungle, then in that case its not stealing anyway.

If someone is an ADC main, again they might be in a duo, so the same applies here as with Supports and stealing.

If you find yourself often unable to secure the champ you want and need to change roles, I recommend practicing with 2-3 champs at getting good with those so you don't need to ask players to switch roles with you often or resort to role stealing.
