I'm going to admit I was wrong about Aurelion Sol, but I have a few new quarrels
Previously, when he first came out, I criticised Riot a bit because AS didn't seem like a very complex champion, and I feared that he'd become a binary numbers champion. While I still do believe he is going to be a tough champion to balance meaningfully due to how odd he is, I will say that having given him a chance, as goofy as he is, I quite like him and that he is pretty fun. But, as with any release, it hasn't gone super smoothly and I would really like some QOL changes here and there since he can feel a bit clunky. Those changes are:
- Comet of Legend no longer interrupts movement commands. You can't issue any movement commands with CoL to queue up for when you land, because obviously that just causes you to land and end the ability, however should you arrive at the maximum range then you completely stop, which doesn't feel smooth. It'd be nice if you could continue moving with your pre E movement pattern upon landing, if possible.
- Q feels unclear. I get that AS being unable to instantly reactivate Q for the stun is meant to be part of his counterplay of getting in his face to make him sweat. That's fine, however it leads to his Q feeling very very clunky, as it's hard to tell when the stun is available. Either add an indicator for the stun range similar to his outer limit, or have it be pre detonatable while in mid air similar to Lux E or Gragas Q, where it explodes as soon as it can.
- Stun is a bit wonky. It seems to have a similar algorithm to something like Cho Silence where it detonates, but there is a brief window before the damage and stun kick in, but they do kick in even if the opponent flashes away. It's bad for the AS because his stun can already feel unreliable as it is, and it's annoying to play against since the whole "I flashed away but still got hit because of spaghetti code" is obnoxious.
- Activating W should be a way to end Comet of Legend. Currently AS is unable to use W during his E, which is fine since he isn't meant to be, but upon landing you have to issue the movement command to cancel his E, then hit W to turn it on should you wish and it feels kinda clunky. That said if this is deliberate to prevent accidental cancelling when using E and pressing Q/E then I can respect that.
Other than that, good job, he's a surprisingly cool champion. Admittedly clunky and it would be nice for him to see some love, but still, well done.
