Can we focus on the real problem?
There are a lot of champions that I argue that aren't OP, but are situationally annoying to deal with. A few examples:
- Destroyer of AD comps
- The bane of squishy, immobile champions

- The late-game nightmares
And several others
I'd like to start by saying that I believe these (and most other) champs are actually well/reasonably balanced.
The real issue is, I can't ban these champions out when they counter my team because I'm too busy dealing with these abominations:
and several others (To be fair, Tahm is more manageable these days)
Why do we have to waste all of our bans making up for Riots terrible balance?
Who thought it was a good idea for a champion to be able to build straight health and do %max health and health-based damage scaling?
Why do we keep releasing champions that build two damage items, go tank, then proceed to 1v5?

Why doesn't anyone bother to check for silly mechanics/power levels before releasing a rework?
- (Could come back to lane after getting killed, and got his true damage against the laner that killed him).
What happened to being able to ban champions because they countered your intended comp? When did matches start being won by which team got the most OP champions of the patch cycle?
Riot, I understand that there are situations where item changes can unintentionally make previously balanced champions ridiculously powerful
. I understand that Trick2g was the only one silly enough to think to himself "
... hmmmm...."
The balance team needs to take responsibility for their mistakes. We players need to be able to differentiate between a "OP"
champion and a "Meta"
champion. I guarantee that when we stop seeing adcs in 3-4 lanes, Malphite will drop back into being a niche counterpick. Explanation for Lux below. We need to differentiate between a broken item/ interaction
,
(home-guards), and over-tuned kits
.
Otherwise this forum will remain as it has always been. An endless circle-jerk of hammering the tallest nail, while the balance team goes full YOLO.
- is what happens when you nerf AP champions, AP items, and then push an assassin meta down our throats. She's safe so she sees play. Everyone I've talked to across the higher elos say she's meta strong rather than OP. Still, she's probably going to get nerfed, riot will release the AP rework, and we'll never see her again until they giver her "QoL" buffs after a year.
