Catalyst Items (current and Former) should be addressed

With all this talk about Crit items being Garbo and Assassin items being too OP. I just wanna talk about a couple of items that are too sub-optimal compared to other mage items.


#Item 1: item 3030

So while item 3003 benefits spell spamming and item 3285 is more for poke/burst, what exactly does item 3030 offer better than the other 2? Not much really, not even the active is any good comparatively speaking. The main issue I find with GLP is that before the mage item update, it actually had a decent niche as a good alternative to item 3027 because of item 3010, which allowed slingers like Karthus and Ryze to sustain through the bursts that assassins and other champs end up dealing. Unfortunately, Because GLP is now a item 3802 item, it can't have Catalyst because of the fact that it's ALSO an item that item 3145 builds into, which I find irritating.

##My Proposed Solution, remove item 3802 from GLP and give it to item 3152, then put item 3010 back onto GLP (AKA revert GLP to before the update)

Of the 3 item 3802 items, GLP was supposed to be the "Catch" option, wouldn't it make more sense to give that to the item that allows champions to dash or "Catch" the enemy?

#Item 2: item 3001

I may have posted about this item last night, but I really want to see a response regarding Abyssal Mask. Like I said previously, I can understand if Riot thought the item was a bit OP because some mages were building it to negate any AP matchup and still gain an advantage, but what they did to it was just plain Overkill. Nowadays, you only see it on tanks like Malphite, Amumu, and Galio. (in fact, other than Chogath, I think those are the ONLY champs who can use it really well afaik lol) Anyway, I feel like item 3001 can be done better if we just increase the range of the aura to about 400-425 units (about the radius of Karthus's E, overall a 100 unit range increase). This way, Battlemages can still use the item effectively as a decent defensive item, and Mages can't abuse it as much as before it was nerfed.

#Item 3: item 3027

Ok, so this one isn't nearly as bad as the other 2 items, but the main issue I have with this item is that well, it's just so boring. Unlike the other 2 items which give useful effects to compliment the user's kit, this one is Literally a Stat-Stick. Also, 10 minutes for it to get the full stack effect? I don't even have to comment on the current length of most games to know that it's too long of a wait for a fully stacked RoA. Unfortunately, I can't really come up with a good solution to change this item because it's also core on a lot of mages, so feel free to brainstorm!

#Honorable Mention: item 3800

When this item originally lost item 3010, I was kinda sad at first. But, when it got Armor I realized it made for at the very least a decent item for Tank Karthus when going against AD champs lol. That, and that I could then also buy item 3001 to go with it instead! :P


Anyway, I don't know how anyone else feels about item 3010 items, but I do think they should be at least addressed. Thoughts? Concerns? Please provide feedback in the comments below! :)
