Will runes be updated/reworked in the next season or two?

Was looking through runes and was wondering when Riot would get around to updating or rebalancing runes. For instance health and mana per five are still runes when all the items are now percent base. I have been hoping for updated runes for years now the armor rune update gave me hope but there has been no word on runes at all since then. What do you guys think?
