A long thread about Displacements and Knockups, and Tenacity.

OK so to quench peoples fears about this post: This is pro-tenacity even if it doesnt look like it at first. TLDR next paragraph

TLDR: Displacements and Knockups work very specifically and tenacity shouldnt affect them. HOWEVER The claim of knockups are becoming too popular is 100% valid.

Displacements and Knockups: Displacements are not meant to stun you. They are meant to move you. As such they shouldnt be affected by tenacity.

For instance... Lets say tenacity lowered displacement distance by a %. Now in these examples i just ask that you do not take current strength into account, i know thresh and syndra are kind of hot topics but work with me here. (Note these are examples feel free to just gloss over)

Blitzcrank couldnt be able to knock you up after the pull Thresh wouldnt be able to flay without recasting Q, and speaking of flay it would become the anti-mobility version of Kassadin 's "Silence"NO champion should have to go through what has happened to that ability. Alistar 's W wouldnt be half as effective as it should be. Syndra wouldnt be able to peel any melee off of her unless dropping her Q in her own face to get them off her. Shyvana wouldnt be able to more easily land E or Q in dragon form after transforming because she would just go over anyone with tenacity. Volibear and Singed flips wouldnt be flips. And for you top lane mains: Darius would have a harder time pulling you into melee range. Urgot might not even flip his opponent over his back to hit more of his passive. That is HUGE.

So to sum up displacements: The distance the opponent travels is 100% deliberate, and shouldnt be fucked with unless DIRECT balancing to that champion.

And for Knockups, simple. They are meant to counter mobility AND tenacity. It shouldnt be reduced by building the thing its meant to stop.

NOW ONTO THE THING PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR: I 100% agree with the fact knockups are becoming a bit too commonplace.

IDK it feels like they are becoming kind of an excuse for Riot to add CC to a character because they are really REALLY easy to show. Its easy to see a large Ram coming towards you, i would think it would flip me up. If i see a scytheman swinging upwards i would figure i too would go upwards.

But it feels like an excuse. I would rather see riot figure out a way to show a Stun or Root or Snare is about to hit you than more knockups. Because knockups are easy.

I think that if Riot slowed down on them a bit we could see more original and interesting and unique kits than we are seeing lately... At least in the CC department. If 2017 champions had one thing in common it would be that they are quite unique ideas. But in the department of CC we had. 1 Root 1 Charm 1 Drowsy Several Slows and 4 Knockups.... Out of 5 champions. (2 on Ornn) Note this doesnt count champion Reworks which, luckily, was even more diverse.

IDK. Just thought i would give my 2 cents on a really recent topic. And to directly talk about both the posts, and what I think Riot should do.
