Should I reconsinder my champion pick like gbay has?

If you've recently watched gbay's video about him trying to take a break from Irelia due to her playstyle preventing him from being a better player, then please hear me out.

It's because of this, I was wondering if MonkeyKing was somehow the same way too. At some point I got bored of the monkey and wanted to play more Yasuo and MasterYi instead, but after a few games with them it occurred to me that I merely needed a break from MonkeyKing for a while and now I actually enjoy playing the monkey again.

However, gbay's video for his reasons dropping Irelia for a good long while made me wonder....should I actually do the same thing with MonkeyKing? I know he's a solid champion for learning the game due to how simple he is and how easily he can carry games if you farm well with him, but it's no secret in that he has his weaknesses such as being overshadowed, being outdated, having no sustain and having a low mana pool via relying on his W a lot.

So should I actually drop MonkeyKing in favor of playing a different champion just to learn better habits with in order to better myself, or should I keep sticking to him? I often try to cs as well as possible to make sure I stay relevant in losing matchups and I normally try to avoid bad trades. Even then, my actual last-hitting is normally 50/50 at best. Is there simply a much better champion for me to play that can teach me better things about the game, and does MonkeyKing actually teach me bad habits?

I just spent 5 minutes writing a good comment then I closed the tab by mistake so the basics of maining champions is to avoid 1 tricking champs because each one has a different set abilities and play styles and once you one trick a champ you start to compare other champs to the one you onetrick making you play worse on champs that have different playstyles so just avoid playing a lot of the same champ/champs in a row and keep things fresh with new picks every now and then to expand your champion pool while learning the different champions weaknesses and strengths which help you fight them with other champs

It all depends on what you want from the game. I think having a broad champ pool is ALWAYS a good thing.

Maybe instead of being a one trick, become a three-four trick.

Pick up Rumble, Kennen, and Darius and boom, you have a broad pool of top laners with different play styles that you adapt to that all have different strengths for different match ups.

I played Ahri for years then started playing other mid laners (other champs in general) and realized it made me not only better at Ahri but the game itself cause I learned the strengths and weaknesses of the other champions and what to kind of expect them to want to do.

Now I got a pretty decent collection of 5+s lol. http://imgur.com/Kevw1LS

Also atm taking a break from Mid to do top lane to try and progress my overall skill.

Keep in mind though, I assume Gbay is a higher elo player where as you're in bronze, so almost anything will work, Meta is pretty much thrown out the window down there.
