Twisted Fate with mage item updates?

I rarely play tf because I feel his laning is too weak for my preference and have to go a sub optimal build paths to be able to survive the laning phase since his 1v1 is usually bad unless ahead. Even though I do think he is one of the handful of champs mid lane that can get away with taking sub optimal builds. However I do understand his strengths and might pick him up after the mage item update just because the new itemization looks so strong for him. Many of the items that would have been considered sub optimal on him before look stronger on him. Need armor? build zhonyas which now give cdr, Mr? abyssal cdr, Mobility? rocket belt cdr, Lane u can win? Lich bane cdr. Basically the new itemization may give his laning a significant boost that may make it worth for me to pick him up. Thoughts on how the mage item update will affect him? Are my dreams of being a lane bully as tf possible or am I just getting my hopes up?
