I love that the buffs to champs that need them the most work the same as nerfs to the most OP champs

They're so absolutely minimal that you'd never even know they're there.

Look at Taric. Look at Taric's kit. Consider that THAT KIT exists in the same role, heck in the same video game, as the kit that Thresh has. And the buffs we're gonna give him?

Mana reduction on his heal, the skill that he universally maxes last, and generally that only makes any difference at all around level 3, because honey you ain't scaling that thing. Wait, in the early game? When it makes a difference, which might actually help with his awful laning? No, silly, we're shaving a little mana cost off once you've leveled the skill up.

Oh. So, about as impactful as that crippling attack speed nerf on Zed, huh.

Every single number in Taric's kit is just bafflingly low, except for the cooldowns, which are hilariously high. Want to deal 40 magic damage and a 5 armor shred? Woah, slow down cowboy you did that 5 seconds ago what you think you're playing a functional champion? Wait for the cooldown, bucko! Look, maybe, MAYBE if you manage to trigger your passive three times you MIGHT get to deal an extra 40 magic damage and 5 armor shred, but you gotta agree to be OOM at that point so it's all balanced and A-OK.

Is Taric a toxic op super busted whatever the heck buzzword? Then rework his shiny gem encrusted arse already, we're at the point where practically every other support has some massively higher-reward stuff going on for easy as hell skillshots. Just repackage dazzle as a line skillshot and up it to 2 seconds or something to tide us over for the rework. Heck, I wouldn't even be mad if you just re-used Xerath's stun particle thing for it, or have him firing a giant "REWORK COMING SOON" sign, just throw the poor guy a bone.

That buff is laughably bad, I agree. By the time Taric's got some points in his heal, chances are he's built a item 3025 or a item 3110 or a item 3222 or a combination of those. Mana costs in his late game aren't the main reason why he's weak. It's not even one of the reasons why he's weak. If they wanted to buff his heal, they could have reduced the mana costs EARLY so he's not going oom after healing two or three times. Oh, but I forget, supports being able to sustain someone throws up red flags all over Riot HQ. Heaven forbid we have a support actually be able to heal in the laning phase without harsh penalties and drawbacks.

Those kind of lanes don't make for #LC$BigPlay$, after all.

Because if he doesn't have a skill shot Riot would just instantly think he is toxic by default, while giving those with 0 cd, no resource plus overloaded kit a pass just because they have a few "skill points".

Oh well, what can you do against it?

40 mana off a heal that is essentially spammed on cooldown late game is pretty big (because when you get into a team fight, you use your passive and other abilities to keep everything on minimal cooldown for faster shred, faster stuns, and faster heals). Also, in a really tough lane, maxing Q first is not a bad idea at all because of the absurd amount of sustain it brings (in fact, the only reason it isn't maxed first or second on live most of the time is that it is so expensive, which isn't going to be as much of a problem anymore).
