Top lane snowballs compared to other lanes.
I don't think any lane is anywhere close to the snowball of a top lane outside a heavily thrown bot lane (mostly because you have another player to compensate).
Top lane seems problematic compared to mid lane for the simple fact that the laners MUST interact in order to obtain farm, so if one laner even gets a slight advantage, the lane can be over even by lv2 without heavily relying on jungle ganks to turn it around.
For one, unlike a mid laner who can just safely farm waves and avoid skill shot harass, top laners suffer from a serious case of being counterpicked mechanically, and being counterpicked as a top laner has way worse consequences than my experience in mid lane.
You pick a melee champ and suddenly someone decides they're going to play Pantheon with aery, Quinn with Aery, Swain with Aery, and short of being something like Darius (who can land an E), Riven, Fiora, or Renekton, you're going to have a really bad time.
You can start dorans shield pots with second wind or go corrupting pots and you will still get obliterated out of lane and fall back on CS so massively. If the jungler doesn't babysit you, you can't do anything and quickly become irrelevant in the game.
This even applies to melee vs. melee match ups. The person who gets the first kill or enough damaging trade pretty much gains a massive advantage that's hard to overcome without jungler intervention. The turrets are weaker than ever and it's gotten to the point where you can't even hope to gain the chance to get some farm under turret as by the time this happens the CS lead caused by being so strongly zoned out of CS disproportionately affects immobile melee champs.
This is in part why tanks have been completely pushed out of top lane, because without being babysat by the jungle you simply cannot farm at all until you lose out on enough CS and exp for a wave to finally make it to your turret, and by that point you are so far behind that you will never be able to fight your opponent again. This is even aggravated by how much more costly roaming is for a top laner compared to a mid laner in terms of wave manipulation.
Meanwhile even on a losing midlane match the availability of range on both assassins and mages allows you to farm much more effectively.
It really doesn't feel fun how jungler reliant top lane is compared to other lanes, and they should probably do something to not make top lane such a snowbally lane in comparison to the other lanes.
The obvious answer is to tell the top laner to abandon the lane and try to go team with mid lane or jungler, but this is heavily discouraged by the fact no one wants to share xp or gold and most teammates will resent being set behind in levels while the enemy top laner gets even bigger while uncontested in taking turrets.
Top lane feels like one of the least fun lanes at the moment because of how binary the outcome is (I can lose lane on an Annie or Ekko and still prove useful in a skirmish because I'm not expected to facetank damage for my group; but a top laner that's behind does not only lack damage, he lacks survival as well so the enemy has denied your team a frontline entirely).
