Auto-Attacks - How Did You Learn? I'm Having Problems

My settings in game. Auto attack OFF. Player Move Click is Mouse Button 2. Player Attack Move Click is Spacebar. I changed center camera to another button.

I'm still using right click as my main auto. I'll remember occasionally if I'm just clearing a wave... Honestly, I kind of just wish I could make it to wear I don't auto attack at all with the right mouse button.

And even if I do hit space bar, it doesn't really seem that much different than the right mouse button. I just don't get it. I feel like if I can get this down, I'll really be able to play this game well. And it just doesn't seem to be happening.
