Ping went from 50 to 400
got into a game and ping randomly went from 40 to constant 400. i have nothing else running in the background

Check if your internet connection bandwidth is stable.
If you refuse to diagnose your connection then no one can help you..... So tired of everyone actually believing that it is always the servers fault.... Guess what 99% of connection issues are user or ISP related but users refuse to try to find the problem or even admit it's anything but the "servers"
Maybe try learning how this thing called the internet works and you will understand.
