Can Riot stop with the reworks?

Time and time again they have failed with their reworks, I don't understand why do they keep doing it?

It's literally becoming a meme at this point, through how many changes did Rengar go?

Through how many changes did Katarina go?

Ryze?

Every rework they make seems to worsen the champion.

I mean old GP was fun, sure he was 1-dimensional with an useless E but he was fun. This new GP ? A mini game champ. Frustrating to play as and against.

Every rework they've done I feel like was a gigantic failure - just look at Vladimir and Malzahar.

I might be biased cause they keep reworking my favorite champs (even Yorick) but I made a new account, farmed some IP and went to the shop and was like ... Wow, all the champs I loved to play are RUINED!

You guys remember the old Xerath ? The God of lightning ? Sure he was underplayed but he was fun. They reworked him into a passive boring lamp post that just sits and clears waves , WTF.

Warwick is another champ I like playing from time to time, and I'm 0% excited about the rework though I didn't even see it in game yet cause I know it's gonna be a failure.

Name a successful rework and why you think it was successful ?

Check Darius, he used to be so fun to play and play against , now even if you kill him 3 times he can 1v1 you cause he can activate 2k gold from his passive by attacking you 5 times - what a gimmicky, garbage tier champion.

Garen is a meme, Skarner also, Fiora is a gimmicky champion with no sense in her kit (AOE team heal from hitting 4 vitals? how the fuck does that make sense to anybody?)

I seriously hope they stop reworking champs as I'm running out of stuff to play!

Even freakin Karma rework was a failure, and how do you fail a rework on a failed champ?

Eve and heimerdinger reworks were a success , I guess... I mean, kinda...

Most of the reworks have been more or less successful for the most part though, check out Yi, Sion, GP (which actually adds depth to the champ with the barrel mechanics), Yorick etc.

Though yeah, champs like say Morde, their rework sucks, it sucks so bad.

Taric

Old Taric had an awesome heal and aura.... but the rest of his kit was pure trash.

Now he has a weak heal but a solid kit. I'd say he became a lot better.... especially given how atrociously bad Radiance was as an ult, easily the worst ult League of Legends ever had (I'm talking about S2 through S6 Radiance, S1 Radiance was badass (It was AoE stats, plus high personal regeneration at the cost of mana per second)).

Great reworks: Sion Taric GP Graves Yorick Popy Probably warwick too

Bad: Skarner Morde Kog'maw

most reworks were taken well by the community, just because you like to run with old GP like an idiot doesnt mean he was a good champion design (i had fair share of both old GP and new GP games)

Sorry to say bro, but you're just wrong. They have screwed up a couple of them, but the ones they have messed up on where the mini reworks, their overhaul projects have almost entirely been successful.

Only facts you need are their overall playrates, which literally skyrocketed once the reworks came through, meaning more and more people enjoy playing them. That's the definition of successful.

Are you saying you don't like fiddling with barrels while the enemy team actually plays League of Legends? Noob.

In my opinion, pretty much every rework has been generally successful, with the exception of Kog'maw's which they reverted.

Coming from a Mastery 6 Skarner/Rengar main (Working on 7 for both).

Yorick was probably the most successful rework they've made - and that's in comparison to a lot of reworks that they've done recently.

Why do I consider Yorick the most successful? After his rework, I don't think I've seen one stat/numbers change to nerf or buff him, just tweaks to kit functionality. (Dark Procession having a walk-up cast out of range, or simply casting at max range, Maiden and Mist Walker AI tweaks, etc.)

And that being said, having seen that the people who reworked Yorick are working on Galio has me very, very excited.

Ryze His old rework WAS a big problem. Having to just RE to deal a fuckton of damage in a crowded teamfight is just plain toxic, plus his perma-snare problem he had.

Katarina Her old kit was nothing more than just QQQQQQQQQQQQQEWR in-lane. Nothing fun about her at all.

Gangplank He felt out of place, or non-meta back then. He didn't really have a lot of mobility or reliable sustain (His old W only scaled with AP)

Vladimir The problem with him was the Spell Vamp builds & his point & click Q. Apparently, they only managed to fixed the former. Latter was a joke.

Malzahar Old Malz kit didn't really show out a ton of gameplay, but his current rework is just toxic af, making him a lot more of a toxic support than mid. Who the hell was in charge of his rework?

Yorick He doesn't even need "skills" to grab a ton of kills before. One reason why he isn't in the Free Week Rotation.

Darius He was TOO oppressive to fight against with his insta-cast Q & the Attack Speed slow on his W. Another problem is the lack of HP & Mana sustain at late game. His current rework is pretty much good & balanced (after his 7.2 nerfs).

Garen Didn't really felt that much difference. Still the same "ez for beginner" champion I know.

Skarner His power spike on his old kit takes quite a while. He wasn't so aggressive back then as his only strength was just his ult. Now with the Crystal Dominion thingy, he should be more fearsome than before especially even at early game.

Mordekaiser So much for a promised "awesome" rework. Tbh, he's pretty much trash right now after the constant nerfs he got after his Juggernaut rework.

MasterYi Xerath Never played their old kit, so I don't have any say for them.

Warwick I rather wait til I can get to test the rework myself at live.

Well, you are not alone, I think like you, and so do my duomates. We started the game in S2, and we've been throught a lot of reworks. Some are good, some are bad, but it's not the question, we bought a champion (and it's skins) that no longer exists. Sometimes reworks changes so much a champion thats only the name stay. I wasn't playing Yorick, and I dont play Galio much, but It bothers me that instead of releasing a new champion they just supress one to have another one instead.

Why dont you say: "hey, Galio's cousin is here to help him, his name is Falio or Halio (idc)". His thème is close to Galio's, but it's not, you could still play both of them (and that's make a new champion even if the other one is meant to stay in woodtier, at least people that love them could still play them).

Biggest tragedy for me is my former main Quinn, which is a problem now btw. Rito said she does not have a clear spot in the game. That is not true, it was an anti-adc or toplaner, now just a toplaner, and after they say they want more diversity, let me laugh now that you can only play 3 differents champion bot in order to be competitive. One other reason of the rework was :"Valor is not used enough in this kit", guess what, Valor is even less used now.

RIP Karma, Quinn, Mordekaiser, Fiora, Sion, etc

P.S.: Sry for my bad english, not my native language, and I'm posting here with the hope that maybe someone in Rito's read it, even if I know they wont stop deleting awsome champions.

Completely agree with you. Reworks alienate the playerbase and are generally a big "F you!" in the face of people who spent hundreds of hours perfecting their playstyle on a champion.

It is also making League extremely streamlined. All new reworks have to adhere to Riot's current views on what "healthy gameplay" is. That usually involves skillshots, minigames etc. It also involves very generic design. Generally speaking old champions had very clear strengths and weaknesses. Look at Akali..full mobility, zero hard CC. A champion designed for outplays, And then look at current designs...3 examples: Kled, Camillle, Pyke. The latter two play more or less as an assassin. Each of these champions have mobility / hard cc which means they have a little of everything and that is extremely GENERIC design.

Almost all new champions have a little bit of everything in their kits. Galio? AOE damage, hardcc, knockup, dash, global (almost) ult. Every new champion have similar kits they stopped designing champs around ONE defining feature. Examples:

Akali - max mobility, zero cc, zero teamfighting Xerath - high range, dies in close combat Garen - low (almost zero) mobility but hits like a truck if he gets onto you

And now look at a midlaner Zoe. She has a skillshot, hard cc, a bit of mobility, a Lichbane passive and the ability to steal summoners. Again...she has a little of EVERYTHING. There is no clear defining feature...a mish-mash of abilities.

As a Malzahar player, his rework was definitely a success. The old Malzahar was extremely fun to play AS but that was only becausee you could literally blow up anyone you choose in lane but have no real job in team fights. Now that his damage has been adjusted he has much more purpose and can be useful for something other than an ego boost. Although I do think they should remove his shield, it takes far too much of his power away for a mostly useless shield that any good player can play around.
