Regarding Position based MMR

I know most are complaining about it. But personally, I like the idea of being able to play more than 1 position/role.

One issue that has been brought up is the danger of role swapping abuse and how to counter it.

In a way, this already exists with the Jungler, others get very little exp in the jungle as it's linked to Smite.

To handle this in lane, you could do the same. For the first 10 minutes after the first minion is killed, laners get full exp in other lanes for a maximum of 4 out of the first 10 minutes. So basically, they can leave lane, they can do other things, but at least 60% of the first 10 minutes has to be in their designated lane. Beyond that, they receive highly reduced exp outside their own lane. For supports, it can be linked to a support item to prevent ADC/Support swap.

Obvious downside: People do trade positions for legitimate reasons sometimes, and this would massively hinder that. In addition to traditional lane swapping, sometimes when people get autofilled, they will find a better way to sort their team. Though this only really happens at very high MMR, this would prevent that. Though, at the same time, they'd be where they belong for that position.

It also brings up the issue of what happens to top players searching for games? With the wait time so long, would the game try to force them to constantly play their worse roles at lower MMR?

Lots to consider, not entirely sure how Riot can pull it off without angering the populace.
