Jungle actually takes skill again

  • Catch up xp removal means that the jungle isn't about just sitting on a lane all game, farming 1 camp, and then being able to keep xp parody with solo laners because of catch up xp.

  • Every drake being worth something (unlike last season) means that now there is a strategic objective for jungle to play around, that will actually be worth while to aim for. This layer of strategic depth rewards intelligent play, not mindless ganking

I dislike the execute on elder buff, but all in all, well done on the jungle for season 10. Also, jungle needed xp nerfs so please stop complaining. Season 9 junglers were constantly keeping pace with and often outlvling solo laners, which was r%%%%%ed. Junglers do not play as adversarial a role as solo laners. Because there xp source is far less contested, it shouldn't be worth as much gold or xp.

Catch up xp removal means that the jungle isn't about just sitting on a lane all game, farming 1 camp, and then being able to keep xp parody with solo laners because of catch up xp.

You started red and the enemy Darius is trying to cheese your top laner with Flash + Ghost. You respond and save them, killing the Darius in the process. Meanwhile, the enemy jungle takes your blue and gromp.

This is such a massive early EXP loss that you're now going to be permanently ~2 levels behind the enemy jungle until around level 8. This gives them carte blanche of your jungle, because you can't contest a champion 2 levels above you, putting you further behind. On top of that, being 2 levels behind the enemy jungle means you're 3-4 levels behind the solo lanes if they're getting full EXP.

Every drake being worth something (unlike last season) means that now there is a strategic objective for jungle to play around, that will actually be worth while to aim for. This layer of strategic depth rewards intelligent play, not mindless ganking

There's nothing strategic about drake. The team that has the early advantage, either because one team has weaker early picks or because the enemy jungle invaded and stole your gromp, just gets the first 2-3 dragons for free in 9/10 games.

Implying that the jungle 'takes skill again' is pretty dumb.

Meh honestly for me at least at the gold elo it's more now whoever gets the 1st successful gank bot is the winner. They got some things right with the new jungle like making each side letting you hit 3 but they got other things wrong imo by making dragons easier to take and nerfing supports so they can't afford to stop the enemy jungler from taking the dragon uncontested.
