A Proposal To Solve The Dynamic Queue Issue

tldr; We need stable teams, not random groups of players thrown together. MMR alone is a terrible judge when matchmaking people, it's all about personality and your chemistry with teammates.

Alright, Riot gets it. Not everyone has dedicated friends to play with them on ranked. However, Riot still wants this to be a team-based, teamwork oriented game. How can we come to a compromise?

I myself hate playing by myself in this dynamic queue, but I always have hated playing by myself. When you come down to it the only way you're going to go far in ranked in a team-based game is by playing and cooperating with your team. If you're the person who's the die-hard lone wolf and refuses to work with a team... I'm sorry but this game isn't for you, or at least ranked isn't, so stick to norms. Now where is this proposal? Calm down calm down I'm getting there. The issue that I have found to be the most prominent when playing this game is that if you don't have a group of people to play with, you're going to get matched up with completely new, random people every single time. This is like going to work everyday and having a new boss and new co-workers, that would be chaos! So what I propose is for Riot to develop a system where a semi-permanent team is created for you (and a warning message saying that you should only be playing ranked if you're absolutely dedicated). You could be matched up with people one rank above you, or one rank below you, or the same as yours (bronze, silver, & gold etc.). This way people actually learn from more experienced players instead of experiencing the same thing over and over again from people the same rank as theirs. With this team you then go on to play a game, if the team is good, or you can see yourself improving along with them then you keep playing with them. If not, then you can leave and try again. BUT this doesn't mean the whole team will disband, if two people had chemistry they'll stay together and simply fill the gaps. This way, players without friends don't have to go out of their way to make a thread on team recruitment and then have it utterly fail. (I don't know about you but I'm not the most outgoing of people)

Now now, I do realize there are flaws with this. "But Rhino what if someone stops playing or their schedules don't match up with mine?" Things like schedules is something you should discuss with that particular team, in fact riot could even make it so you put in your desired schedule before being matched up with people. If they stop playing, oh well, you'll have a gap to fill. "But Rhino couldn't this process take forever for people to actually get settled with a team?" Well... yes, I never said it was an easy process, but as long as you want to improve and are dedicated to working with a good team it shouldn't be a problem right? I'm sure there are other potential flaws but I'll let you guys come up with those.

In conclusion, for us lonely solo players it can be hard to hop from game to game rolling a dice to see if you get a competent team or a toxic one. So I want a feature where we have more stability. (also voice chat would be nice, but I know Riot will never give it to me :c)

Thanks for anyone that read all of this! Here's a sticker! c: [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

There is a difference between "die hard lone wolf" and "not communicating with the team" I like being a lone wolf, yet I'm active in chat--still don't really want to group queue with others though.

I enjoy getting the random bag of dice at the beginning of the game and working with it to win.
That's the best part.

  • Doesn't solve anything regarding the inherit flaws of Dynamic Queue.

  • We already have these "Clubs".

  • We have this thing called "friends list" where you can invite the same group of people to play with you.

  • Maintaining a stable team (a friend group) is up to you. And you can already do it.
