So, Lux Support and Autofill?

Hey Guys -

Started doing ranked last night, first game went really well. The thought process was to start as a AP support and switch to an AP carry throughout the game, which I was able to do. K? K. So, onto the next games. Since the first game went so well, and considering it was actually the toughest in terms of opponents, I decided to do the same thing for the next three games.

Let's not talk about how bad I did, because I'm thoroughly embarrassed about it still. Now, I intended on actually playing Lux mid and maybe a support fill once in a while as it was my section choice. I haven't played the game in a long time so this whole thing is new to me (accidently dodged my first promos not realizing I had to lock in my champ), so I did a mid select primary with a support secondary.

I ended up supporting every single game. I used to ADC main, so maybe I could do mid/adc - wow, maybe I'll actually have to do mid/adc so I can actually play support and mid a reasonable amount each, and if I end up adc I could always go back to my adc roots.

Ok, so question. Last time I played Lux support was actually kind of viable, same type of kind of viable as like Morgana support, actually. At the time she was a way better mid, as was Lux, but you could still do it and no one was upset about it.

 Not only did my teammates seem a li'l triggered by my choosing Lux support (that new Lux elementalist video pmg), but it seemed like she wasn't that great? We went against a really good Thresh and I felt kind of... well, kind of useless in comparison to him. I'm trying to poke and he's healing his adc by being faceroll (lol, sorry, salty still), shielding, I mean -- ffss maybe ill buy Thresh ;_;

I guess if I'm going to end up being a support main I might as well actually play a damn support main, like my Leona/Nami/Sona days, it's just a little frustrating because I'd been practicing Lux/Annie/Ahri mid for a while and I'm not even getting an opportunity to play it.

 Thoughts?

Lux is an acceptable support. Tell ur team to suck a chode. Well, actually don't cuz you'll get reported and banned, but think it really hard.

Don't build like an AP carry when you're support, don't. You're a support, so build like a support. item 3107 , item 3109, item 3222 or item 2049 should appear in your build

Lux is, simply put, just not good in the Support Role compared to most others. Both Brand and Zyra offer more utility, safety, and outright damage. Thresh, Blitzcrank, Nautilus, Alistar, Leona, ect. can simply roll over her for one mistake.

If you really want to be a damage based Support, Zyra would be the way to go. I'm biased here, but her safety and ability to defend against the current meta of bot lane parties are unequaled. Even with just a Sightstone and Spellthief's, she can be incredibly dangerous.

Lux support is good in a way where she can carry the game as if she was mid. She is simply better mid, but a good Lux will be able to support if needed.

Thank you for the feedback guys, especially the Lux tips! I will try to save my Q for peeling and change up my build. I've been gaming a long time, so I guess I got overly cocky and thought I'd skip any support/starting build and go straight for damage and got roflstomped because of it. I'm going to continue on my Lux support, adjust my build, and my philosophy about lane phase.

I really wish I could mid! I got my razer deathadder elite last night dropped my DPI to 1100 and hit 100 CS in 15 minutes which was really a hallmark for me (traditionally I suffer from low CS, high KDA world of bronze/silver). I was really disappointed because of how bad the last three games went..

I know it's only three games, but I think it's three games of the worst I've ever done. And it's only placements? Last time I was in placements I carried 8/10 games =( I think normals dumbed me down and I need to get back up to pace! I've always believed you're only as good as those you play with/against..

I'm a Lux Support main and I gotta say she offers a lot to teams if played pretty decently. Only issue is she's very squishy and can be easily taken out if you're caught in a bad position. However, I've used people hard focusing me to my advantage by baiting them into my team or kiting while they're attempting to kill me

Edit: I accidentally posted this before I could even finish, RIP

Anyway, my ending build for most games tend to be

item 2301 item 3020 item 3504 item 3174 item 3190 item 3050

Some of these items are super situational for what my team needs. Case in point is I'll usually never build the Censer if I have a Jhin carry or anyone to really make use of the passive. item 3117 are really good if you need to get to lane faster to defend a turret or if you're planning on roaming a lot.

Runes Masteries Offensive Masteries Defensive

Some items you can swap depending on the matchup are item 3157 instead of Zeke's, item 3158 if you want the early CDR, or item 3109 if you have a tanky enough front line.

In cases where you're being hard focused because of a game of "Kill the Lux," I'll usually go item 3092 item 2045 item 3060 or item 3512 for the first three items so that to go after me puts a lane in risk.

item 3107 is an okay item as well asitem 3222 , but I personally have few success using Mikael's given my teammates tend to die before I even have a chance to use it.

You can build item 3041 or item 3069 , but I haven't tested those out enough. I'd recommend coin if you think the lane is going to be really poke heavy and allows you some sustainable breathing room.

Thanks to the Lux & Zyra tips! I seriously appreciate it! I feel refreshed and ready to take on the promos again tonight with a different perspective. I will have TWO Lux's! Mage Lux & Support Lux!

Oh! I did want to talk about one more thing: THE META.

What the HELL is up with this let's have a party down in bot lane and stomp the living hell out of the support/adc nonsense? Like wow. Every. Single. Game. It's been an absolute nightmare on bot lane, and the games where my team didn't aid us (the last three), it was.... it was bad. We were getting dived all day?! What's with the agro? When did this become a thing?

I know the others are giving you great tips that I agree mostly with, but Lux support is not a typical support. If you are doing well and getting kills as a Lux supp, and the team is winning, I usually go full AP after sighstone. item 3092 item 2045 item 3111 (boots depend on the game)item 3285 and the rest situational, like Rylai's or maybe a Ardents censor or Redemption if I think the team needs it late game. But if my bot lane is having a hard time, and the team is having a hard time, it's best to go support lux and forgo the extra damage. Get items that the team needs, maybe an Athene's to heal as you shield if there's a heavy fed AP carry on the enemy team, Redemption, ZZ'Rot, or others.

Also, I don't just pick Lux support nilly willy. I always look to see who their support is if they pick before I do, and then pick accordingly. Lux isn't great against Blitz or Thresh, she's definitely better against squishier supports like Janna, Sona, and more. So if you see one of those picked, get Lux and you will have an easier time. And I definitely agree with whoever posted below me- save your Q for defensive plays. If you waist it trying to hit an offensive play and miss, that gives them time to abuse you and your ADC for it. Poke with E and your passive, and use your shield. If they are wanting to go all in while minions are around, use E to slow and shield as you and your carry back, and once they are clear from minions then use Q so you don't waste it and exhaust if needed/they are diving or something. But if you do see a good option to hit a Q and you hit them, that's fine but just don't spam it alot.

Zyra is another fun one, but she is EXTREMELY squishy early so beware. She can go against a Thresh fairly well- but he has the early game advantage. Level 1 hook- equals almost death for you. Once you get a few levels you can trade safely and poke more, and you can also block his hook with a plant. Blitz is a little harder so I don't recommend the match up, since his hook is way faster and you have to have amazing reaction times to get out of the way or block it. The rest of the support champions aren't much of a threat, she can go up against most of them fairly well. Besides early game, she's strong the whole game and gets stronger late too- she has one of the best team fighting phases amongst all the other champions. I usually do a item 3092 item 2045 item 3020 item 3151 item 3116 build on her with the last few items being situational.

still kae1/6/2017, 2:44:03 PM1 votes

Right, though, I'm not sure if you saw my ADC's walk right into five-six hooks and snowball the other team.... I'm trying to kind of help carry in case someone doesn't know what they're doing worse than me =3 I mean there was a Brand one game who I could swear you'd think had a heat seeking Q by the way my li'l marksmen wasn't able to move away from them. At one point I was like "hey, um, please try to not get hit by Brand's stun".

So what about this Autofill nonsense? Should I just give up on my dreams for Lux mid? lol? I mean if AP Support switch isn't actually viable (though I have pulled it off obviously), if it's not like a good idea, then I'm just going to use real supports.

Like I went negative - don't get me wrong, those games were awful on my behalf. And we died a ton, because we were still trying to win despite the other team having a huge item lead, so it resulted in a ton of deaths.

Even though how tragic it was, I think in lane phase I died maybe two times for two kills, which is not good, but we were getting stomped. The issue being just about everyone lost their lane, besides Darius top who was being Darius top.
