Varus changes are disappointing

Said that we still don't know about all the item changes and new items (which seems to favor AD casters), I find that Varus got the short end of the stick again in the MM update. All he got was a more comfortable window to deal damage during his Ultimate with a small buff on the damage rate if he can coordinate his AAs with his R duration.

I do feel though that Kog, Cait and Jinx all fill his niche better while also having some more flavor. Now, I'm not being all tragic and all but I'd really like to know how the perception of the players is and how Riot feels about it.
