Feedback and Attitiude
League has a user feedback problem. It rewards aggressive dominant behaviors that are not well connected enough to the win condition disproportionately, while not giving enough recognition to equally if not more important gameplay.
Feedback is when a game responds to your inputs, usually telling you if what you did was good or bad. The way feedback is presented though can heavily skew the perception of what should be completely factual data.
This occurs largely in two areas: The glorification of kills, and lack of recognition for teamwork. A good player knows that objectives win games, but until you reach the victory screen league of legends will try its hardest to convince you otherwise. When the game starts yelling at you "TRIPPLE KILL, QUADRA KILL, PENTA KILL!" and then a moment later mumbles something about an inhibitor, its should be no surprise how highly kills are valued due to the massive positive reinforcement you get for them. Does the game show the faces of everyone who assisted that kill? No, it shows the guy who last hit them and ticks up their KDA. KDA tells you how many people you have killed, how many people have killed you, and them a less interesting number that should count for a lot in terms of demonstrating team participation but gives no glory and garners no "PENTA ASSIST" announcment. People will chase across the map, flame for KSING, and AFK over a lost pentakill all for the glory of the kill.
Additionally, there is little glory for taking a tower. You can deal 99% of the damage but a minion can take the credit at the last second. Nevermind if 3 people group to push it down. The congratulations for taking an inhibitor should be enormous, but instead you are lucky to get a "gj" in chat.
You know that a 2 / 3/ 30 KDA gave the team more than a 8 / 4 / 4 KDA, but it just doesn't FEEL like it. A kill participation/ death would read as 32/3, and 12 / 4 which would really put things into perspective in terms of who was really impacting the game. I don't think there is even a way to see how many towers you were involved in taking.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be able to see how many kills we get. Its an important point of pride to many players. What I AM saying is that it shouldn't be so heavily glorified as it clouds the objective of the game and takes attention away from teamwork.
