Something I've realized from playing a Vanilla WoW server.

Damage creep is a very real thing in the newer wow expansions. What with number inflation and damage being overtly raised for the sake of quicker leveling. Since I've started playing Vanilla wow I've notice a few things about the old game that has entranced and seemingly charmed most of the player base.

It was simpler and harder at the same time.

What do I mean by this? Hell, why am I even bringing this up? Well....to put it simply, League is suffering from World of Warcraft syndrome. Damage inflation, quicker games for the sake of quicker games. I know I'm probably going to get nailed to a cross for comparing an MMO to a MOBA but this is the sad truth of most online games that make it this far.

So let me start this little rant off with a nice big fat disclaimer that I'm by no means a fantastic player, or hell, even good at the game for that matter. But I've been here since the ass end of season 1 and I've seen the dramatic changes to league over the coarse of 7 (now 8) seasons. If you were to somehow take a time machine into the past and showed gameplay footage of league today to a player from 7 years ago they would tell you that this is an entirely different game and in some sense they would be right.

The game isn't the only thing that has changed, remember when riot said they would never enforce a meta? Or would never balance or change the game simply to fit e-sports? Yeah, I remember too. Now supports and adcs are basically locked in botlane into a what can only be described as a pissing contest for whoever can send the other person back to base first so whichever side goes back can lose their tower at 7 minutes in and basically decide the game for everyone else because HEY! He who wins bot usually wins the game. But don't worry, you have an assassin that can take care of that fed AD- oh shit wait....We nerfed those guys....Well, hey good news! You can surrender at 15 minutes now!

So how does this all circle around to World of Warcraft you might ask? Remember this little jewel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Wrw3c2NjeE

This is what it feels like when Riot wont listen to us. They feel like your mom telling you as a kid that you don't want Mc.donalds, but goddammit all you want is a happy meal. (btw why the fuck does it cost more than an actual meal now?)

Theres been an outcry for stronger towers for 3 seasons now 3 SEASONS, 3 YEARS all we've wanted was towers that could punish dives, and not be made of paper. What do we get? A tank mastery that basically lets a Nasus smash your turret down to absolutely nothing if you so much as dare to go back. Letting Cait headshot your turret for extra damage, letting Ziggs execute it because fuck you that's why, oh and redbuff can effect towers aswell so...coolright?

Most people have also wanted a damage reduction across the board so tanks can be useful at...I dunno tanking? But for some reason riot took that as "Lets let tanks do a cubic shite ton of damage but also be tanky as hell...You know unless theres an adc around...But wait... Just let them be able to kill the adc and it's fine!." - probably not an actual conversation, but damnit that's what it feels like. Especially when any kind of bruiser can be outclassed by a tank that can ultimately do their job just as well if not better.

On the subject of Bruisers, one of my favorite champions MonkeyKing plays a HELL of alot better building as an assassin than he does as the bruiser he was meant to be. I find myself rushing item 3147 a hell of alot more than rushing item 3071 Because of the sheer damage I'm able to pump out as a consequence of the damage creep that we're currently finding ourselves entangled in.

I've tried picking up Jhin Because he is a hell of a fun time, but utterly outclassed by certain other adcs Tristana Ashe Twitch MissFortune Ezreal and other ADCs that do so much better with the new rune system and sadly, even to an extent that an underskilled player such as myself can tell that no amount of number tweaks outside of a mini-rework/kit changing will let him be on par with his other ADC brothers and sisters. Now, that's not to say that I havent dominated with him before, but that's if and only if my support is playing at their absolute 100% best.

So let me wrap up this long winded rant with something alittle on the lighter side of things. I'm 100% happy with what supports have become, I feel like supports as a whole are just in a good position and the runes have absolutely helped them establish a steady foothold within the game. But that also comes with the downside of ADCs being nigh unstoppable when fed :-...Well shit.

TL;DR - Damage creep is real, games are decided wayyyy to earlier, snowballing has gotten out of hand and stomps are so commonplace that an actual GG is rare. Towers need to be buffed both defensively and offensively to avoid losing it on your first B. Tanks are super good at tanking and dishing out damage so now bruisers are becoming obsolete. Blizzard and Riot are starting to feel like the same company telling you that you want tacos when you want a burger and surrender at 15 was pretty much implemented because stomps are so commonplace.
