New Akali feels weird

Hey guys!

I'm a former Akali main since season 4 (roughly 220k points on her now).

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that Akali lost her identity a bit? I don't mean her lore, that was meant to change. She turned from a resetting monster, to an all-out combo assasin.

People might complain that her damage was too high before, but honestly it really wasn't hard to counter her before. She was really only a problem in lower ranks.

I actually love her rework don't get me wrong, it's really interesting, but I feel like this is a whole new champion. The best thing about Akali was her ability to reset and bounce around a teamfight. Now she has to use her entire combo to kill one target, after which she can't do much unless you go a attack speed/rageblade build with a gunblade.

Anyway, point is, she's not weak, not trashing the champion. It just feels weird to play her now. I am officially a Sona/Zed main now!

Yeah, you are right, they changed her identity.

I'm not saying old akali's design was necessarily good, just better than what current akali is. Before she, was stickier, but unlike most assasins her combo required an auto attack, which kinda made her fall of in teamfights. (kinda hard to get off an auto when ur surrounded by 5 people and you only have a tiny shroud to assist you. Her Q throw was clunky as well (slow traveling projectile). and E did physical damage. Despite all her flaws, she had a small playerbase who liked her and succeeded with her.

Now.. They made her whole kit revolve around her shroud. Yeah it takes a few Q's to kill a target, but with that big ass shroud and true stealth pinning her down and killing her when she dives in is almost impossible, unless your team can wait out the 5 seconds, and the enemy team hasn't also already started assaulting you.

Who would have thought a champion being able to pop in and out of stealth for a 6s duration in a bigass cloud while shitting out sustained burst damage would be un-fun to play against?

A lot of old Akali players would agree with you and me as well. I still find the new Akali fun and will always main her, but I definitely prefer the old Akali.

Yeah , they pushed her from being a very simple to play , and now they gave her mechanics and it seems like they doing this for all in coming reworks and new champions

It is a new champion. Old akali is effectly removed from the game. It's really depressing.

Her Core identity was sticking to people with R and being a 4 ability champion with no ultimate since her ult was never really on CD unless you were spamming it to chase someone down. It would be like removing corki's ultimate and giving him a 90 second CD ultimate.

not not that hard to counter as much as was no counter if you didnt have aoe spam to cover her whole invisable field
