Support is the healthiest position in the game at the moment
As a huge support main, I honestly think the role is by far the healthiest and best balanced of all of them right now. As far as I can tell:
-There is huge diversity in potential builds Unlike most roles, I can build the same champ 20 different ways depending on what's needed. Different active items, different stat focuses (tanky VS utility VS damage) and different build orders all feel very viable. No one item crowds out the rest as the "must have" item of the role. -There is huge diversity in viable champions Seriously, the support champion pool is awesome atm. Some supports are suffering (shout out to all those TK mains) but most of the pool feels very viable. Few, if any champs are crowding out the support pool as must-ban or op (though some, like Nami, are pretty strong). Loads of different archtypes feel really great, tanks are on the weaker side in lane but are still valid and valuable. -There is very little toxicity in what supports do Aside from a few toxic mid-laners who work their way bot (I'm looking at you Zoe), most supports feel reasonable to play as and against. They have good highs and lows, they're not too oppressive when ahead and not too useless when behind.
Honestly, as a support main, the role feels vibrant and extremely well balanced. My hat is off to the balance team for their work on supports, I've mained the role since s2 and it's just gotten better and better.
