Help with Mid lane

Just a few questions, is it truley more important to try and farm and push towers than to kill my opposing mid laner? Also looking for suggestions to play in the middle Lane and looking for a true "main" champ. Thanks for any advice!

You get a lot more gold from farm than for kills, but kills are also what let you get objectives. Basically a kill just for the purpose of a kill doesn't mean that much, but a kill that leads to drag does. As for a main I would recommend trying to play one champion of each type (zone mags, burst mate, fighter made, ad assasin, AP assasin, bruiser mages). My personal favorite are zone mages so I don't really have a main champion but I do have a main class. Hope this helps and good luck.

EDIT: typo

To learn more about what kind of champion you should main, try playing a variety of champions and see what styles stand out to you. After that, pick a champion of the style you like and experiment until one "clicks." Your main champion should be one you love all around--their personality, their background, their appearance, their abilities, etc etc etc. My mains, as a support, are Karma and Rakan; I've mained Karma since I first started the game, and she's stuck ever since. Rakan is also a main because his personality is so wacky and fun. I hope this helps!

Taking down objectives is how you win. Champions are in the way of that. Make decisions that facilitate taking objectives, sometimes that's a flash all in at level 3 to gain an XP and gold advantage to then snag another kill at 6 to then take the tower to then begin roaming to other lanes. Sometimes it's farming until you're level 6 where you can begin applying pressure and sometimes it's trying to get scraps of CS to stay relevant when you're getting crushed in lane.

IF you're in a losing lane, you need to get your objectives but you're currently losing to your enemy. So, farm to gain power so you can contest your laner/another enemy champion. Don't brainlessly pick a fight with a laner who is a level up with kills under their belt, don't try and contest their farm if they can oneshot you and don't walk up to yours if they can take half your life for doing so.

Pick ranged AP, Annie or Ori are easy to use with plenty of depth for you to grow into. Focus on the basics like CS with autos, look for harass opportunities when they go to CS and take small risks to learn your limits. It only takes one try of trading vs Talon while in his Q range to realize you really don't want to do this willy-nilly, but likewise it's great when an enemy is low, sees you're low and thinks they can kill you when you've already learned what you can do and can turn it around on them.

It depends on the matchup and who scales better. Some champs are strong early and need to punish. Others are weak early and as long as they keep up in farm they're good.

For the most part, wave control and lane priority are very important. If you can outpush your opponent, you can roam and help your jungler on invades or dragon. Also, pushing gradually takes down the mid tower.

That said, if you are pushed you need plenty of vision for the enemy jungler.

Champions:

Mages: Lux and Annie are simple mages. Xerath is good. If you have a PhD in physics, then you could try Azir.

Assassins: Katarina is worth the time it takes to learn her. Talon is good. Zed is slightly complicated but extremely fun.
