Why can't Aurelion cast Q on the minimap?

I could have sworn it was possible when I played him before. But now if I'm trying to Q + E down lane, I have to do it by moving the screen out to where I want to aim. I can E on the minimap, picking a point in the distance to travel to. Why can't I cast my Q to come with me?

But no, Q goes careening off into the bottom right corner of the screen while an unprotected Aurelion flies off into the top right.

Can we make minimap targeting toggle-able for each spell, like quick-cast?
