This is why people are upset

People are upset because something they were very passionate about was taken away from them

People love this game. They love their mains, attachment to their champs, and how their strengths and weaknesses fit into the game. They fell in love with the strategic element. Power spikes, item builds, min maxing, early pressure or late scaling? Split push or team fight? They loved the micromechanics. The big outplays. They watched their favorite team or streamers do some crazy stuff they would hope to imitate. They loved this game, this blend of macro and micro, strategy and split second decisions, and what their champ that they loved could do for their team.

Then it was gone. It was taken away and replaced by a cheap imitation where the only strategy is 'burst now.' Snowballs, one sided stomps, paper turrets, absurd levels of damage, streamers - public faces of the game openly admitting they only play for money and wish they could quit, a community notoriously toxic managing to get even worse, and a general sense of discontent.

Because this community loves this game.

Or they did, at least.

Season 8 is very much like falling in love with a woman, and having a great relationship for many years, but she changes. And as much as you try to make it work, as much as it tilts you and as much as you don't enjoy it, you still try. Until eventually you realize the person you fell in love with and the person you see before you are not the same anymore.
