Are we really going to have to wait 4 months until the mage update to feel impactful as mages?

Last season I could carry with almost any mage. This season, it's either lux or ahri and everyone else is bad compared to AD champions. Anti burst itemization is so strong with and and everyone buys it, so late game as a burst mage you cannot kill anyone. I die a little when I'm playing an AP champions and I see everyone except the support has a steraks and maw. Can we please weaken these items so mages can be more impactful?
