Is it worth to get a main yet?

I recently started playing (well, half a year ago but I'm still as shit as when I started). I am trying to climb, but I'm getting destroyed. I thought that maybe I should start maining someone and get better with them. The problem with that is, I still don't have most of the champions + I don't always get the role I want. Should I just get one main for every lane, or give up on maining until I have more champions?

Edit: Thanks, guys. I will try the things you suggested.

Also, fu*k autocorrect. It corrected maining to making XP

Ask if they want to switch when you do get autofilled and main one champion for each role til you get to high plat.

For the the beginning it is always good to have someone that you can handle well, afterthat you can start exploring other champions. I started with Veigar,I played with him very much and also my first ranks. Now I have a champion pool about 50 championso, focused on Support with Braum , Thresh and Rakan , but handle all , So I say , choose someone that you want to master, someone that look interesting in your opinion.

Yes. I started hitting rolling success with trundle in top. I do other stuff in regulars, but with trundle I have 70 something % wins in ranked. Having a main is worth it.

I would suggest focusing on one role and choose 3 champions that you like in that role and only play them. After you lose a game as the first rotate to the second and so on.

Choose a role pick 3 champions, choose another pick 2 champions. For the other roles either dodge or pick something you're comfortable with, even though you don't main them. oooor just don't give a damn and otp something.

I know it's cliche, but you don't pick a main, it picks you....meaning that you will know it when you have found "your" champ(s).

Sometimes you will get fooled too, especially when new. But if you play the free weekly ones and get a feel for a good number of them, you will eventually stumble upon the One.

Pick 2-3 roles to focus on. Support should definitely be one of them because: Autofill Teaches map awareness, warding, team play, etc. Learn champs that have characteristics/playstyles of many other roles (mage, healer/shield/utility, cc, tank, etc.)

Don't focus on winning when you first start; learn how the game works. Learn the theory - like why do I ward this bush and not that one? When should I group or split? How do I gank, who should I gank, and when?

Try out several different types of champs for the roles you like most. Learn which ones best suit your playstyle. Ex: do you play ad assassins, ap assassins, control mages, or something else in mid lane? Even if you don't main one type of champ, understanding that champ's goals, win conditions, playstyles will help you play better AGAINST that type of champ or with that champ as an ally.

Reflect on what you could do better. Have fun. And don't give up.
