@Meddler Removing Bandit from support items and binding it to the role, like smite and machete items

At least as far as draft and rank goes (Since blind doesn't have "roles"), I think removing bandit from the support items and binding it to whoever is in the "support" role in champion select. This means that people can still play "off-meta" things like the challenger Rek'Sai only support. This next bit is important in making this a plausible option. Just like you have the trade feature for champions, whoever is in the support role would have another button labeled something like "support bind" and they can trade that with another player. If they trade it, that player now has the bandit passive bound to them. This would allow auto-fill swaps and make sure that you couldn't just "give the bandit" to your mid or top, as you would get almost no gold and be useless enough to outweigh the mid or top having bandit (sort of like pre-support patch gold gains).

This is just an idea I had and I think it would solve the balance issue riot has always had with support items and other roles using them. Just the first day of LCS we saw an average of 4.2 support items per team. I think this idea seems a bit bulky, but just like everything else, we would get used to it fast.

Let me know what you all think :)

If I were playing support and I had a GP or Fiora on my team, you know I'd be giving bandit to them every single time.

Impossible to do. Bandit isn't on a summoner spell like Smite. Putting it on support items IS like binding it to the support role. The next step is to make it so that support items aren't optimal on solo laners.

Lots of supports have sufficient utility built into the kits that they could get by with essentially no gold (and they'd still have some from the non-bandit gold on support items/assists/amibient gold), so being able to bind the bandit passive to a player instead of an item would probably result in it being given to adc (who scales best with gold) optimally while the support just goes without.

I'm all for off-meta picks in the support role, but I think they should still be building a support item. Trick is to make the rest of the players not want to.
