Best Role to Climb?

Before I start, I understand that each player has a part of winning and losing. I'm not trying to seem like the weebos that completely blame their team for every loss.

I'm currently stuck in Bronze trying to climb. To those that have climbed out, what has been the best way you have found? I've watched pro players and other high ranks play and what I've noticed is the games end alot sooner than in gold. A 30 minute game is very short in bronze, most being +40 minutes. I have recently found some success playing late game carries like Twitch. So the final question is this: what champions can best capitalize off of the enemy team's mistakes to close out a game quickly.

Honestly you can win and carry through any role. You're better off picking something you enjoy and just hone your craft. There's a huge amount of support mains that are in challenger, same with one tricks.

I agree with jungle and mid. They affect the game the most due to ganks/roaming. Playing ADC relies too much on the rest of your team to protect you unless you can exclusively play Xayah. Carry top laners also work, but you need to be really active.

So first this is all just in my opinion. For bronze I would rate mid as the best role to make it to silver, You can crush your lane and snowball, and are able to roam and impact top or bot lane when opportunity's arrive. Many mids do more with their early game power spikes from abilitys then other classes can. Id recommend long range high damage mages like Xerath Ziggs Velkoz and to a lesser extent Syndra Lux . This is with the assumption your not playing at a bronze level and are able to dodge, position, and land a high majority of skillshots. Lots of players in bronze struggle to juke abilitys so you can really rack up hits on your lane with some one like Xerath and snowball into mid and late game presenting a threat and solid poke harassment to the enemys adc/mid at little risk to your hp pool. Jungle you can abuse a unskilled player and likely tilt them as a high number of folks don't get that a terrible attitude is a huge negative trait to climbing ladder, you have more opportunity's as a jungle to affect any lane but are less likely to completely shut down 1 lane, as you will lose gold and exp if you camp out to long. If you get filled to support I would recommend skillshot CC heavy supports, Blitzcrank if your good with his Q has impact at every stage of the match, but can be a bit feast or famine and odds are folks will insta lock his hard counters if they see ya pick him.

After each match, take a moment and check the stats, how was your damage to your opponents, did you hit the numbers and traits your class wants to (soak damage as a tank, get vision as a support, damage for mages/marksmen, etc etc.) Good luck buddy.

I've done it with Both Top and Support. I think the difference between the different roles is very small compared to the difference of just getting better, so it doesn't matter.

Let's illustrate that with numbers. Imagine your skill is a number between 1 and 100. Currently, in Bronze, your skill might be something around 15. Maybe with the "right role", you can climb to Silver with a Skill of 29, but even with the "worse role", you still only need 31. In the end, if you can improve from 15 to 29, the easiest way is just to work just a bit much more up to 35 and play the role you enjoy, than to bother finding the "best role".

This is my opinion but current meta right now. Top lane has the most impact on the game. For low elo you cannot rely on bot lane since noobs are your support its technically 1v2 therefore toplane with late game carries or mid-game carries are good picks. Right now Camile and Nasus are good top picks and sion. Sion is for cc, just focus on cs and trades. BE VERY ACTIVE AND LOOK AT THE MINI MAP Oh p.s Watching LS Videos about climbing might help

To make the most general and applicable recommendation possible for BRONZE, SILVER, and GOLD players to climb, make sure you focus evenly on both MICRO and MACRO. A lot of the community will say "git gud" at one or a few specific champs aka one-tricking, play flavor of the month, or say one lane is the strongest carry, while this helps to some degree, this can get you dead stuck in a rank just as easily as the meta changes so frequently and it is a team game. Often I see players that are much stronger in game sense, but lose out during lane phase and mid game team fights. I also see the complete opposite just as often, (particularly BOT LANERS at low ELO, but it can be any lane), players that are so engaged at trying to be a mechanical god that they tunnel vision the entire game and do not know where to be at what time, with bare minimum knowledge of team synergy and enemy team strategy. If you can identify your own weaknesses in MICRO and MACRO, focus on improving them, you will not only just be stronger yourself, but will be able to identify and exploit other players + teams weaknesses, adapt, and thus climb relatively quick, no matter what your preferred role is. TIPS: Keep up with Patch Notes, learn from watching higher level players, communicate, do not TILT, motivate / help team, get some general experience with every role, know general synergies between champs, call plays if you reach a confident level of game knowledge.

Don't switch champions, try to stick between 2-3.

Even Faker has been grinding out games with Irelia and Yasuo.. despite his high champion pool mastery he still climbs to top 3 spot by 1-2 tricking :P

You can carry in just about any role, but I would have to say jungle and mid would be the best two, as you can have better impact on the map then the other roles.

Also, in every rank, the meta is a bit different, lower elo you see the likes of yasuo, master yi, garen doing well, but once you start climbing more, they start to disappear as you know how to play against them much better.

Also, you can tend to trust you're team mates more, as to be at higher elo they are not strangers to carrying a game every once in a while.

The best way to climb is to learn to play a small selection of champions VERY well. Most people are gonna say that abusing power spikes is a good way to climb, and that’s true in the short term. However, over the long term (for Season 8 and onwards), it’s better to know a champion inside and out because you learn how to play that same champion in a variety of situations.

As for types of champions, the general consensus is that you should either play champions that carry hard when they get ahead (not having to rely on your team) or champions that help your team carry hard (more often supports but can apply to other roles).

For now, since there’s only a week left to climb, abusing power picks is the way to go. Either champs that are strong right now (Twitch, Trist, Veig, Talon, Sej, Xin, Taric, Leona, Urgot, Galio) or easy late-game champs like Fiora are the key.

Once Season 8 has started, start looking for champs you really enjoy and refining your skills with them into an art form. On the long term, you climb more effectively that way.
