Zilean rework is actually a nerf

The redesigned q needs major tweaking. It travels so slowly and is extremely predictable. It's like a xerath ult but easier to dodge and Way less meaningful. The 0.9 to 0.8 nerf affected his Damage even further due to the fact that it's his only Damaging spell. It's nearly impossible to concentrate On landing a double bomb while making sure you're not Getting sneezed on to result in a death.

It's impossible to play him mid, because he is SO easily Punishable if he misses a q. The fact that it's not guaranteed Damage is also a strain on his evervecent mana problems. Yes, the point and click was somewhat easy, but it Was getting in range to punish him for it that made it Not overpowered. I can't play zilean in this condition.

Thought?

See now here I'm at a crossroads.

On one hand, I liked playing old Zilean, but on the other, it was ridiculously unfun to be on the receiving end of it. It was a guilty pleasure of mine, much like AP Yi was back in the day.

He's better in teamfights now IMO, with his AOE stun.

Self-bomb. Time warp, rush into enemy team, second self-bomb. Chronoshift. Whole team is stunned and takes huge damage! Obviously not the best way to start every teamfight, but he has a lot more possibilities now.

Sion + Zil, Zilean puts the bomb on a minion, Sion knocks it into the enemy team, Zilean bombs the minion again, stun.

Bomb the initiator, then bomb them again when they initiate.

His midlane is weaker now though I agree, he doesn't really have anything in his kit that can take full advantage of the stun, so you end up with a weaker poke now that it can be dodged.

A rework that's actually a nerf? Shocking. Haven't seen one of those yet.

I tried him just today in a bot game. I Actually think he would do better in lane, simply because it's a lot Easier to hit minions. And Regardless of who get's hit with the bombs. 2 bombs, on the same target stuns everyone in the AoE.

the Primary problem is probably the throw speed. definitely not as easy as it use to be. But I see a lot of interesting possibilities coming from it.

Early to mid game, you are a liability for your team if you miss even one bomb. After his Q W Q, everything goes on long cool down and makes it impossible for you to be a contributor for team fights. You can't even be played as a revive bot anymore, because Riot nerfed his Ult and W interaction. I've tried countless of times to making this champ work. There will be glorious moments where you can single-handily stop an all out engage with your AoE stun. But winning a battle does not mean winning the war. His major, underlying weaknesses comes from the fact that: 1) his bomb exploding duration is 3 seconds long- making it impossible to stun someone unless you were to counter-disengage, 2) his Q lob is too dam slow, 3) his Q latching hit box is really buggy/ is too easy for the enemy to side step it/ unreliable poke, 4) his Q mana cost is pretty insane, and 5) his Q damage is literally pretty low for a high risk- low reward champ.
