Few opinions about Udyr rework may (should) be in the future.
First thing I want to say, that this post is gonna be like every others post. Maybe worse because my English pretty bad. Hope you guys still understand what I want to say, and leave the comments below, so we can discuss about this. For who don’t want to read a long-analysis-dumb-post, please skip to the bottom of the post, I got my final thought there. . ----You guys’ve already known that his kit is really outdated right now. I am an Udyr main, but I feel he is going to be less possible to be a useful choice against the recently champions that got released. He is tanky, insane dps, but that seems like all things that he got. I really hate the kind of stat check it is. When you are ahead, you are too strong to be stoppable, but when behind, he got nothing to play against enemies but a not much dmg you could deal (because you are Behind.), small amount of shield from turtle, 1s stun from bear and hope that your enemies is stupid enough for you to comeback in the game. You are behind, so your level is too low what make you not have enough skill point into your stances so you even weaker than normal. Then you don’t have any kit to outplay enemies, which make Udyr really suck when he’s behind, can’t fight, can’t do map control, can’t split, can’t sometimes even...farm.---- .
- Riot should give him an ultimate. Why? Because imo, when you try to keep the 4 basic skills kit, you got nothing much to do with it, even if you change the way it works. It could make that skill too weak, or too strong for a basic skill, or feel like nothing changed. Just look at the way they do with his kit at 7.14, you guys will understand what I said. (btw wat ta hecc is that 6s dot tiger holy moly i cant even last hit the minion by the dot) So, there must be an ultimate, but you guys think, which skill could be an ultimate? Phoenix? Turtle? Bear? Tiger? Nah... Hoo ta hecc will wait til 6 for a first point for the stance you like? It must be a separate ultimate, no related with those 4. This ultimate would have a little bit utility for his teammates, maybe an aoe skill like the old taric’s ult, or at least, it upgrade udyr basic skills for a short time, or even in a small area too. What could help Udyr more in the combat, instead just make him a split-push champion. I like spit-push, but sometimes you cant do it (the enemies team are so strong, or they got champs with global skills like TF, Ziggs, Pan, Shen, etc.) you will have to combat. Just a little bit utility like what they do with Fiora’s ult (not her face lol). .
- Transform. And keep 4 basic skills. So, there is gonna be 3 buttons left? How could we keep all those 4 in only 3 buttons? I suggest the transformation, it’s not gonna be the kind that you transform and change your model like Jayce, Nid, Nidalee, Rek’sai, etc. Just transform to use the different skills. W and E will be 4 basic skills. Q is gonna be a transform skill. Tiger (W) and Turtle (E) is the basic, you press Q, it changes to Phoenix (W) and Bear (E). With this, we still can keep 4 stances, and adding more mechanic in the same time. Imo, Q could have the low cd (even 2-3s), and low consuming as well. Udyr will not have Q right the level 1, but has to use skill point to get it (liek Rek’sais W), this skill will have 5 skill points as well. Why are those 2 couple Tiger&Turtle, Phoenix&Bear? Because imo, Tiger and Turtle is the very good start even in jungle or in lane. --->At lv1, you usually have 1 point in W, so you can use Tiger for clearing, or E give Turtle for a safe early laning phase (like almost every games that I play, sometime I got Phoenix at lv1 for aoe clearing, but you know what, that’s not very important, because with this new kit I will get all the stances at lv3) --->At lv2, you have 2 options: give Q 1 point, or E. ++Use that point for Q, if you want to farm like Tiger-Phoenix ( ye I know many Udyr mains jungle clear like this), you may can not gank very well at lv2 because you don’t have Bear, but you still got the movement speed from Q, and the insane dmg from 2 stances. In lane, this shit can f8ck off the opponent because of the dmg it has. ++Use that for E, you got Turtle for the sustain, yep many Udyr players do this too. You focused on farming, and you still have all stances at lv3, so you can gank lanes. --->At lv3, you got 1 point into Q. SO you got all the stances. In lane, for a safe early laning phase like I said before, 1 point into E, and the lv2 into Q, will give you the sustain, and CC to support a gank from your jungler. The only con, that you can NOT have Bear at lv2, if the lv1 you take W, but that’s not that important. Guys you still reading it? You’re awesome. Let’s continue. .
- The Bear’s Leap. No more movement speed bonus for Bear. Yep, Bear got a leap when you active (no more movement speed bonus when active). He leap a short distance and stun the first enemy hit (and may still apply the mark in 6s). This stun should be longer than 1s, the auto attack in the enemies still leave the stun, but shorter. You bear’s leap into the enemies that still got marked, will mini stun as well (about 0.1s just enough to cancel aa, chaneling skills, etc.) ===>There SHOULD be a leap. I don’t even remember how many times I got kited not because of skilling enemies, but a small distance that I cant even reach, then die in tilted. Riot don’t wanna changes much about Bear because they think it could f8ck everybody off. SO this could slove it, a little bit skill-required here, you hit the leap, the enemy will be stuned for longer, if not, enemy still got stuned by your aa, but much shorter, multi stun will be weaker, but not too important, it should be like that when you got a gap close skill. In combat, this leap would be better than the old, 6s in combat is a really long time that you can’t CC the same enemy, and can’t CC the other as well (if you can’t catch them), what make currently Bear pretty useless in combat. You still got the movement speed, but what if you want the movement speed, the dmg/sustain as well? No, you will got stucked in that stance for 2 aa, then you could change into the new stance (which is gonna waste time, the dmg you could deal with Tiger/Phoenix, or heling with Turtle’s first aa), which Skarner could even do better with only 1 click, W and got both movement speed and shield, then spam Q for dmg, in the time of your Udyr’s only one aa. There SHOULD be a leap, and they should change the delay between switching skill lower and scaling with Udyr’s attack speed as well, not cdr. (almosts every attack speed bonus items got no cdr, which waste your aa at the stance that you’ve already use its first aa effect). .
- Jayce’s passive. Let me explain, guys you would hate the no movement speed from bear. A short distance is nothing if you can’t run close into enemise first, right? Okay, we still got a blank skill here, you guys could guess it? Yes, Q ta transformation. 5 skill points into a very useless skill just for transforming?? Nah... We add the bonus movement speed (and Ghosted effect as well) into it, and no f8cking delay casting between it and the real stances. The movement speed could be like the currently bear (15-35%) but in shorter time (only 1-1.5s) because of the low cd Q has. That would fix everything, I think... .
- What’s else? We got Tiger, Phoenix and Turtle left. Because the delay casting could be shorter, so you could use your stances really quick then trasform and you the new stances and transform and use and transform, which could make Udyr pretty imba, the farm ming with Tiger + Q + Phoenix is gonna be really insane, plus now Bear got the leap (and mini stun even when enemies got marked) so the cd of 4 stances should be longer, may be 8-9s, but may have the stronger effect, so the Udyr player must calculate correctly if they want the perfect harmony in their play. *the next part is gonna be crazy. For changing the mechanic of Tiger, Turtle, Phoenix, and may keep the cd still 6s, maybe we could do something like this: -Tiger would improve 3 first aa of Udyr (but only available in Tiger stance), im not sure the currently Tiger is pretty ok, but I miss the old Tiger’s DoT. -Turtle got the slightly knock up in a small area around him (like what we see in Udyr SG’s comic) so there is more utility in his kit. That’s all, the shield and healing is pretty good mechanic now. -Phoenix flame (not the cone) can deal dmg as enemy’s maximum/current heath, which makes Phoenix something can compare vs Tiger (maybe 0.5-1% per second in 2s, and Udyr has to aa to make this effect last longer-like Shyvana’s W). As you see, Udyr now could change his stances really quickly, but new Tiger and Phoenix will make him to think carefully if he want to transform to the other stance, because it could waste his dmg so much. Im saying about changing mechanic guys, if he was too strong, or too weak, the stats could be changed. We gave him utility, we’ll take from him some stats, but it could help Udyr more healthy, and more fun to play, and that’s what League of Legends should be. . You guys still can spam Q for going around the map, so it feels like the old Udyr as well. If you chase or get chased, spam E-Q-E-Q-E-Q-E-Q-E (the movement speed, shield, and the leap still help you), and it feels like Udyr as well! Now you have to spend more skills to transform, so maybe the passive that Riot made at 7.14 is pretty okay for it, if Udyr ultimate could upgrade his skill, so even the bonus effect Udyr got from Inner Beast’s stack is really okay, and it makes sense imo (please read from it if you didn’t know about the change he used to have: http://www.surrenderat20.net/p/714-pbe-cycle.html) .
