My problems as a support main.

this is not going to be about flaming or saying i always have a bad ADC or im underappreciated as a role, its about the meta atm that ik im going to get hate for this but every time i see this in game it drives me insane and tilts me every game, and it a revolves around people bring mage supports bot such as Brand Lux Sona Zyra Fiddlesticks Veigar Velkoz ECT... this annoys the shit out of me as i tend to 90% of the time play tanky high cc supports such as Alistar Thresh Braum Blitzcrank ect, it just really gets to me vsing these mage champs that just build full ap no support items other then there support starter item and just act as a second high dmg mage with the cc of a support,

my other problem with this is i thought supports were supposed to be low dmg high hp and massive cc tanks that are the front line getting assists for your team and being the front line, but when i see a full ap sona or lux or brand ect walts in there like they own the place and get 2-3 kills in a fight as A SUPPORT this really pisses me off because if im playing thresh i would never be able to do that or Alistair or someone like them,

1v1ing: these mages "Supports" can build full ap and have amazing 1v1 potential like last game i saw the ap sona "Support" 1v1 my lee sin jg and win easily, this would never happen if she was playing a real support champ such as ali she would never do that dmg and it be suicide 1v1ing as a tank support unless the enemy was low from a fight.

ik im prob going to get a lot of hate for this but as a support main i do not enjoy the game when im vsing these champs, its not fun early game because they can legit do more dmg then there adc, and me and my adc cant really go in on them without being bursted unless they fuck up,

to put this into prospective imagine being a mid lane main and forced to constantly vs very tanky champs that do tons of dmg thats kinda what it be like, or being a top main and vsing a teemo with 4k hp while still doing his normal dmg.

again i expect a lot of hate but if your a support main let me know if you agree with me. as always GLHF

The purpose of the support is not to be Tanky and provide peel. This is part of what a supper CAN be however I believe in short the goal of the support is to help your add WIN/ SURVIVE the lanig phase. Mage supports are for high damage with a certain risk. They are usually squishy and so if caught out by a hook or all inned then they are easily killed. There are more high risk high damage. As for tank supports they are a little less risky since they are harder to kill and that why they are intended for more of a peel role as they can tank the damage. You just have to know your role as a support. Whether that is to peel/ shuv laners our of lane...or oneshot.

As much as I hate mage supports as well, they need kills to get items and snowball. Else they just aren't relevant enough damage threats.

So there is some risk in going full damage support, it may pay off later or not, depending on how your opponents play the lane.

There are no set rules for supports. A lot of times when you see mage supports like the ones you listed it's either for a kill lane or it's an autofilled player. Mages are easy to play in the bot lane and have the potential to carry making them highly desirable in lower ranks. The tanks you're picking are team reliant and can get poked out of lane by these mages. Therefore if your team fails to snowball, there's a high likelihood that there will be little you can do to stop the stomp. This seems like a rant thread but I'm gonna give you some advice. You have a 67% winrate with Blitzcrank according to your op.gg. Blitz is a huge counter to those champs. Play him whenever you're against a mage champ you can't stand. Dodge their CC and land your hooks. They're all squishy champs with no mobility spells (aside from flash) and should be near 0 health after a full combo. Stick with your carry and don't try to 1v1 them yourself in the mid/late game. Make sure you're warding so if they do get out of control you can keep tabs on where they are and have your entire team collapse on them if you're able. Build an early Locket if you're having trouble with the poke. It gives defenses from both the enemy mage and adc.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Couldn't read any further when you implied that supports are supposed to be tanks.

Tank supports on their own are one of the weakest classes. Particularly if you are the only "tank" on the team. The problem with a support trying to fulfill that void is your lack of gold income compared to a solo laner. You are still squishy for the majority of the game. You can start a fight with leona or alistar but you arent sion.

Also, tanks have ALWAYS been countered by mages in the support role. This isnt new. Tanks used to counter enchanters, enchanters countered mages and mages countered tanks. Since shielders got gutted, the enchanter class is wonky at the moment and this allows mages to have no hard counters.

Sona isnt a mage

I am a main support. I main Bard Brand Morgana Nami Lux

While i agree that brand is wildly too strong and lux can totally cheese level 2 pretty much any adc and 100-0 at level 6 single handely. but both these champs are noobstompers. it's really hard to hit lux q on people who actually side step... so is brand's q.

The thing is, better players dodge better and these champs rely on skillshots, which are unreliable. noobs don't side step so as i said, they are noobstompers.

morgana is just a really good support and has a superb kit mostly due to her e and r but i think she's fine balance wise. bard is definitely one of the strongest supports in the game RN. nami is just.... meh...

Mage supports (brand, morgana, lux, zyra)are meta RN because they are midlaners that got bullied out of mid by one-shot assassins.... it's natural that they do a lot of damage.

they found such a good spot because they actually really have very good kits for supports. and i think it's pretty much okay.

you just gotta know you cannot win a fight against a draven-lux combo and you SHOULD play the lane safe...

This seems like a failure to adapt. Just because they're annoying doesn't mean you can't exploit their weaknesses.
