Am I Supposed To Not Play Ranked For a While After New Season Hits?

I have played 10 ranked games in the jungle, my main role, since the season began. I have lost 9 of those games in a row.

Seems to me like every game I play, at least one of the following always happens:

  1. Troll on my team
  2. Someone who seems like a smurf on enemy team, because they stomp the whole game
  3. At least one of my lanes feeds(i.e. 0/5 at 10 minutes)
  4. My team has a horrible team comp, and the enemy team has an amazing one
  5. Toxic people on my team

I know I am not, by any means, a great or even good player in some games, and I could do more to increase my chances of winning a game, but when these things happens it just makes me feel like it doesn't matter if I play my best.

I cannot even remember when I've had an experience this horrible in ranked for this amount of time. I have been playing ranked since season 3, and have been at least gold since season 5. Since season 6, I usually just get into Gold then stop playing ranked to focus on college.

I'm just curious if anyone else has been having a similar experience in their ranked games.

Yes. Ranked is always a shitshow at the beginning (and end) of the season.

Sometimes the start of the season can be rough. I won 5/8 of my placements for my main roll and none of the losses I blamed on anyone else. I think that's a key to climbing, if that's really what you want to do.

If you're just here to "enjoy the game" then don't play ranked. If you want to improve, you have to play to improve, not to win.

That being said, sorry for the shitty games.

I completely agree, I've gotten huge amounts of losses at the start of the new rank, and it's "my fault" when I end up 3/6, but it mainly comes from my jungle spam pinging a gank then turns around, or team doesn't understand team fighting. I was going to g2 promos last season and just demoted to s3 :(

100% agree, every season I tell myself I need to wait a few weeks before rank, but I never do, my first game, my team is a total joke. Next game we have their one of their nexus tower busted at 12:30 and finish the game fully at 17 minutes a total stomp, next 2 games got 1 afk, one for 10 min and the other left at 8 minutes and never came back.

Season start brings all the smurfs and players who only come to do the placements and don't come back till season end to try and get the next rank.

As someone who also enjoys jg. You need a duo in a lane right now. You cant solo carry with the exp changes unles you counter jg the whole game

Yeah... I always slow roll into ranked. I accidentally queued for my first ranked game last week and our top laner quit after 3 minutes.

This weekend I'll probably jump in to do placements for at least one role. I expect some of the worst is over by now.

Riot messed up with their new bottom rank. The reason you think that the other team is smurfing is because everyone - including people in masters league /diamond last season all started iron 4. At least that was as of the last time I checked. Their formulas were messed up somehow. (This is what I heard since everyone was pissed about it)

To my memory, Riot tries to encourage early ranked matches, but yeah, it tends to suck early into the season.
