Hi, I am a Nasus main and currently in platin elo. In competetive he is usually used as a counter pick who is great at split pushing and at 1v1. The thing is that the team has to put resources into Nasus to work. In soloq that isn't always possible, therefore, you will have a weak early game and literally no impact till the mid game. This gives Nasus a lot of weaknesses. However, there are a handful of players who play a very unique playstyle. Quas is one of them (He climbed with e-max Nasus till rank 2 Challenger in NA). He puts points into E and buys doran rings for pushing power. He doesn't focus on stacking but on putting pressure on the enemy team. I tried this playstyle and it works very well. However, due to the "buffs" I changed my playstyle. E has a weaker early game but a stronger late game, Q is obviously very strong now. My solution is to put only 3 points into E till lvl 5 and buy 2 doransitem 1056 item 1056 rings. After lvl 6 I start to max Q. I also buy trinity force and go tanky. I think people who play Nasus with a playstyle which has a stronger early-mid game for Nasus also have more success with him. In the end there are in fact many playstyles for Nasus and even I, as a Nasus main, still try to think of better builds/playstyles for Nasus. Cheers.

No change will make him good lategame or in 5v5s, it's just the meta and the nature of the champion that gives him a low winrate.

Any buffs to him that would make him competitive would simply turn him into another cho.

I remember so many on the boards were fearful of this buff and we are still below 50 percent

Nasus is extremely off-meta at the moment. Damage (especially marksman damage) is too high too early in the game for juggernauts to do their job. Plus, Ardent meta means enchanters are popular, and enchanters basically hard counter juggernauts.

All that being said, I think Nasus is pretty strong among the juggernauts. With the recent ultimate buff, he's an even more insane duelist than he used to be, and he can absolutely demolish towers.

I don't think Nasus needs champion-specific buffs. I think the whole class is struggling at the moment. I'd rather see changes that target big-picture problems with bruisers/juggernauts. I think if the meta shifts back towards bruisers, Nasus will be very strong.

If Riot keeps individually buffing him, he could easily become a problem if/when the ardent marksmen meta finally ends, and brusiers become more of a threat again.
