Suggestion/Question for Rioteers and to an extend fellow players regarding some ideas I had

alright so first things first, this is my very first actual post on the boards. i have a lot of ideas almost all the time and i absolutely LOVE thinking about things i would add, change you get the gist of it.

now here's the actual thing and i'll start with what's been on my mind for quite a while: Caitlyn don't get me wrong please, this is not supposed to be a rant or anything, merely something i thought of/considered/wondered about. Cait's role is the sniper, the sheriff of piltover, the deadeye of league pretty much which is all fine and dandy and apropriately represented in most of her but there's someting that kind of bothered me a bit (after jhin got released even more so). Her ult. Ezreal and Jhin are more of a sniper ingame than "The" sniper of league is if you ask me personally and thus i wondered: Riot, did you guys ever consider changing her ultimate? if not, maybe you should and if you have, please allow me to make a suggestion for said change.

i personally would love, love love it if you would change her ultimate from a cheap, high range point-n-click channel, to a global ranged skillshot, now here me out

what i thought was basically, rather than having a channel time you would hit R and she would enter a stance (for example by taking a knee) acompanied by a global audio queue ("got you in my sights" or a similarly fitting quote for her) with the second cast being the actual bullet. i've thought about it for quite a while and how I would handle it beyond that would be:

A) Give it a really decent, satisfying "umpf" to its audio when the bullet is shot, rather than the strange noise it currently makes (like a more bass heavy and louder version of her headshot audio)

B) Make the skillshot really narrow, and I mean narrow, I'm talking half the width of new Akali's e if not even thinner. We're dealing with a single high power, high velocity round and I feel like it should feel that way

C) Keep the "blockable by ally champions bit" but do consider upgrading to (literal) anti-armor rounds at Rank 3, which would allow her to hit 2 targets, with the second target hit taking significantly less damage (my thoughts were maybe 65 ~ 45% tops) as long as the second target is within the same line of effect

now if you guys would make the second cast instant or delayed for more counterplay, if you want to adapt the damage to it now being a skillshot or not and similar things is entirely up to you, i'm just sharing my thoughts about something i personally would absolutely love to see.

and here is the other thing that i wanted to suggest to Riot/ask fellow players

what is your guys' opinion on special kill cues?

now what i jsut said might not paint the same image for everyone so let me explain how i imagined. what i mean by that, would be special visuals that show up, instead of the normal "An Ally/Enemy has been slain", if they die to damaging or execute oriented ultimates.

let me give you examples (yes, yes i thought of these quite a while ago and can't keep them to myself anymore)

Someone dies to Caitlyn's ult: instead of the normal visual where it would say X has been slain, a sherrif badge would pop up at the top center of the screen. instead of a star however, it would show the character icon of the champ that died and after a short while, a hole would be "shot" into the center of the icon's head (maybe even a small and brief smoke trail) with the audio cue "Boom, headshot" with Caitlyn's voice instead of the usual slogan.

Someone dies to Darius ult: instead of the normal visual where it would say X has been slain, imagine a shield shaped icon of whoever died and after a brief delay, the shield/champ icon gets split vertically (bot not quite, still connected at the very bottom), with the two halves of the shield leaning slightly outward and Darius commenting "You will regret opposing me" (or a simialrly fitting quote).

Someome dies to Chogath ulti: " - ", imagine the champ icon being on a plate before 2 small bites are taken out of it in quick succession, followed by 1 massive bite of not just the icon but the plate as well, consuming half of the entire thing with the gobal cue "om nom nom nom" going

i thought of a lot more like Ahri, Riven, Warwick, Evelynn etc but those would be the funniest/most interessting to me

Talking strictly theory, I like both of those ideas.

To start with Caitlyn's Ultimate, I agree with you that her identity as a sniper seems to be kinda ambiguous. The best I can see in her current design that reflects that is the fact that she has the highest autoattack range (and even that gets surpassed by Tristana once she hits Level 17, due to her passive). Her Ultimate being a "once she's got you you're done for" type of skill is one way to represent a sharpshooter's skill, though the range leaves something to be desired (although I understand that this is most likely done for balancing reasons. A bigger scope on a definite hit ability - sans team mates taking the shot for you - only works on such a small scale). Your idea of a replacement ultimate is interesting. It's definitely one way you could do it, though the way you depicted it I'd probably want the projectile speed to be fast. And I mean really fast. Like an actual bullet, one could say. Such a narrow skill shot requires decent speed to be able to reliably hit, or else you'll just get sidestepped or miss in general.

Compared to that, I don't have much to say about your idea of audio and visual cues when it comes to Champion Kills. I like the idea, a lot actually. Champions have been getting a lot of quotes triggered by killing, getting killing sprees or even getting triple-, quadra- and pentakills. Those could be very easily be used as actual, globally heard voicelines instead of the announcer. Then again, you could argue that the Announcer has always been a staple of League of Legends, and taking away some of her lines could be met with resistance from some parts of the community.

Generally speaking, I like both of your ideas. The latter moreso than the first, though that's mostly because the Caitlyn "rework", if you wanna call it that, would require a lot of fiddling, balancing and work to be done. In fact, both of these require a lot of work - one is an an entirely new ability, the other would be a update concerning every champion in the game. But if those things are possible? Hell, all power to you.
