Elo and MMR are a Disaster - Riot just fix it!

So i am Silver 5 and I have been finding it extremely difficult to move up even though I have been winning a ton of my games. I blame the messed up Elo system. Please observe the LP won and lost my last 11 games in order from top to bottom: L - (-19) W - (+15) W - (+17) W - (+19) L - (-23) W - (+15) L - (-23) W - (+17) L - (-19) W -- (+17) W - (+14)

A few thinks to note. First, I swear these numbers are not fabricated. Second, how did i go on a three game win streak and then lose more LP than the previous game i lost???? (game 1 and 5) Thirdly, I am generally ticked off, but then i just got 14 LP for my last win? Are you actually kidding me Riot? I win seven out of my last ten games and i get 14 LP? Which is actually less than I got for my win 3 hours earlier!!!!!!

Guys please vote if you want Riot to fix this. Its broken. And it sucks. If there are any Reds out there please, please, try to make sense of this.

You went on a 3 game winning streak, so the system was unsure about your ranking, therefor you get more for a win (as evidenced by the increasing LP from the wins) and lose more for a loss.

W - (+15) L - (-23)

Given your 30W 59L, the system is pretty unsure if your win streak was luck or a skill increase and since you won 4 and lost 3 of your last 7, it is not confident enough to increase your LP gains, and since you gained more LP from the wins, it keeps the higher LP losses to even things out.

W - (+17) L - (-19) W -- (+17) W - (+14)

Not enough wins to show the system that you deserve to climb, so your LP gains and losses have evened out.

Basically, for you to climb, you are going to have to bring your Win/Loss Ratio to higher than 50%. By doing that, you will increase your MMR to being equal to or higher than the relative MMR for your rank and then you will be able to climb.

It looks like your past 20 games have a 60% winrate, so if you can keep that up, you will repair your MMR in no time and then you will start to see more LP gains and less LP losses.

Good luck on the Rift!

I agree. I'm in a position where I trashed my elo on accident(just loss after loss after loss). Got demoted to silver back to gold a few times(gold currently). Then I picked up Kindred and have like an 80% w/l in ranked I believe, winning almost every game. But it doesn't matter because I lose 23 every loss and gain 13 every win. So if I win 4 lose 1, doesn't really matter. I barely gain.

30W 59L (Win Ratio 34%)

just because you're on a streak, that doesn't negate your bad history, MMR makes you take into account your bad history as well to prove you are actually better than where you've been placed.

go play another ~40 games of ranked and the system will better understand your MMR and current placement. then you will more than likely normalize out, whether it be by dropping, or by climbing.

Your mmr is lower than s5, because you tanked it, so of course you lose more than you gain. You technically should be winning all of them since you are the highest rank.

It's because your b1 and not s5 really

They need to revamp placement matches. I won 7/3 and only got promoted one rank to silver 5, whereas my friend played 6 games with me and ended 6/4 and he got silver 2. Like wtf? I should at least be in the same rank with him right? Nah, that'd be stupid.
