reasons why dynamic queue is a flop
-
it allows for abuse of the system to legally elo boost.
-
it punishes people who want to play solo
-
it punishes people who for whatever reason can only play solo
-
it creates huge volitility in lower to mid elos
-
it forces the sparingly-populated higher elo to have more restrictions on matchmaking
-
it forces a prisoner's dilemma, where the best choice for the individual player is the worst choice for the group as a whole.
-
it forces a disparity in role popularity, and then widens that disparity.
-
it creates a huge hidden information advantage outside of gameplay, in a game that systematically encourages any hidden information be mechanically restricted to gameplay choices, controllable through in-game decisions, and relatively minor unless properly manipulated in opposition to its disregard.
I am not a person who dislikes dynamic queue. in fact I'm generally speaking, pretty interested in it, and kind of like it. however, the way it's been inplemented completely turns the elo and mmr system on its head and destroys the previous state of the game. Riot, I honestly don't care if you think the new philosophy that dynamic queue is pushing towards is good or bad, however regardless of which philosphy you seek to emphasize, as it stands dynamic queue is not healthily implemented and requires substantial changes to matchmaking, and/or the ranking system, and/or the queue system.
