Ranked/MMR Adjustment Idea

I play this game a ton. I don't get to play as much as I used to because I work 50+ hour weeks and have to commute both ways, along with all of the other things that happen in life that occupy my time. Video games are one of my only releases nowadays, and I love the competitive aspect of the game. However, going on massive winning streaks and hard-carrying teams has been something I've done a lot of lately. Yet, regardless of how well I do, how well I perform my essential jobs and go above and beyond in-game isn't reflected in a system merely dictated by win/loss. I get that wins and losses matter the most, but there needs to be a system in place that determines the amount of LP gain/loss per game. Losing streaks should increase LP loss over time, but an aggregate individual 'summoner score' should be integrated to the game.

I'm sure it would be hard to wrinkle out, but I think it would be beneficial. Almost every single person I know in person who plays League actively avoids Ranked like the plague. Not because they're bad players, but because the experience is far from enjoyable when you have to deal with intentional afks and feeders who put you through hell because they don't get their role. Or games like the one I just played, where a Fiora dives into 1v5's all game, my ADC honestly wasn't any good and my jungler literally afk-farmed all game. I was playing Soraka, I led the games in wards placed/killed, I harassed well and zoned in lane, kept my ADC alive in trades she shouldn't have stayed alive in and barring a lack of assistance from my teammates, while stuck in what felt like a 2v4 bot lane for 15 minutes, I performed more than adequately. I lost about 30LP for performing every function of my job to the best of my ability and did better than my counterpart on the enemy team.

The tools to at least make the system better - albeit not perfect - are already existing in the game and it would be quite beneficial. Especially to a more casual player, or someone trying to grind and not be discouraged for not already being a Diamond elo player. You can't gain MMR without winning, and that's what "elo hell" is. Some people blame it for their bad rank, but it's mostly a matter of people who don't play the game long enough to get out of bronze/silver/gold, etc. yet they get matched with people all the time who -deserve- to be there, if not lower. I believe if you use the champion mastery system, expand it to take into account a more general game-purpose. Track ping counts to see if people are 'Missing' pinging, 'Assist' pinging and that could determine their part in an overall general game criteria cornerstone for Communication. Then look at the general role expectations, where they're graded on whether it be farm, heals/shields/boosts, overall KDA, kill participation, wards placed/killed, farm count/farm opportunity of lanes when in them.

I know it's complex but I genuinely believe if I fulfilled adequately to what would generate to 90% of my in-game goal in a loss, I shouldn't lose as much LP as someone who goes 1-11 then AFK's in the base. Now conversely, I think that a bigger contributor to a victory should also be rewarded more handsomely than the player who is salty and berating everyone in chat, goes 3-10-5 and only fulfills maybe 50% of their general role/champion mastery outlook per game. I know there are times when I'm coming off of a big losing streak where I've played particularly well throughout, but just have bad luck, bad-to-no chemistry with teammates in group fights or somebody else downright just feeds the one person that can shut me down. I think there should be a "morale" boost after snapping a losing streak where you don't go losing 25-30LP and win just to get 18LP back. Sure, that might exist and I don't know it, because I don't play a ridiculous amount of ranked due to the frustration is often causes me. I'm playing right now because it's the preseason and the ladder hasn't been reset. If I tank, everything gets wiped anyways when I go into placements. Best case scenario, I get my MMR up and can place higher come January. The experience has been taxing, but I enjoy the game nonetheless, and I want to see it improve instead of digress.

Any opinions? This was off the top of my head, so if there are any ideas or facts that seem unconsidered - they likely are - however I think begging the question or tinkering with the MMR/Mastery systems could result in a better experience. Feel free to share or revise.

And if anybody wants to play, my username is TheRagingWade and I'm on the North American server. Cheers. :3
