I'm curious Riot, why is it that you made it so ARAM only uses Owned/Free-Week Champions?

I mean why not make it so EVERY Champion is available for every player in the game instead of just the ones that buy every single Champion on release?

That sounds a lot more Random and exciting than seeing the same Free-Week champions every single match.

Because ARAM only accounts inflate the playerbase to make riot more successful, as well as more skins bought.

Because if they made every champion available in ARAM it'd be a game mode where you didn't earn IP or spend money for RP to get what you want.

It's a free to play game, they do need to make money.

Mostly it's because people don't buy champions they don't like- and it's somewhat unfair to force them to have to play as them. It's a case of extremes- either they give them all of the champions (extreme on one end) or they don't do anything more than RNG the ones you have (other extreme)- either way someone is going to be unhappy.

Because it was an improvement over custom-game ARAM's, where you were also restricted to the champions you own there as well...however, as its clear they should have changed that, I'm guessing they came to a conclusion that people wouldn't buy champions anymore if all they do is play ARAM, maybe? I wonder how many people only play ARAM and not Summoner's Rift, The Twisted Treeline, Dominion...

There are certain champs that I really hate and never want to play them. Therefore, I have made a conscious decision to not buy them. I enjoy ARAM and it would ruin my experience if a lot of champs I don't like were added to the random roster.

Personally I just play ARAM to learn how to teamfight when I'm not snowballing hard. I actually wish there were a Howling Abyss queue where you can choose who you play.

Can I just say I don't understand how this is an issue? Its random with the champs that you own/are free for the week. I personally don't think its necessary to have champs that you don't own available. And I've personally thought that the variety is pretty good considering people own different champs and the rotation changes every week but..... whats the issue?

I can't be the only one who has champions they don't own and won't buy because they don't like playing them...

Also I have a moral objection to playing Katarina on ARAM & I won't buy her because of it

unlocking all the champs is apparantly an issue, but yet you can play literally any champ in the game for One for All.

I mean, realistically, people are going to keep complaining about getting the same champ over and over.

This would also remove the A-hole ARAM only players where they only but good champs on aram so they don't get bad champs

Players wouldn't need to spend RP with new ARAM accounts then. Rather, their ARAM accounts would be obsolete. Serves em' right anyways haha

Because then ARAM players have essentially no reason to buy champs and little use for IP in general.

My preferred solution remains combining the individual champ pools of everyone in a particular game. It increases diversity (by reducing the bias introduced by ARAM-optimized accounts) while still providing a reason for ARAM players to buy champs (to guarantee the possibility of a particular champ showing up).

issue with it is that you could end up with a champion you've never played before and have to learn on the fly in a match against other people. Sure it's kinda annoying to see the same freeweek champs but It'd be more annoying if people ended up with champs they never had the chance to try out. Maybe a balance would be to put a champ cap on ARAM so you'd have to own a certain amount to play the mode?

Didn't a Red state that they were looking into an ARAM pass in the next few months?
