Who should be nerfed?: Riven Or Yasuo

I'm just going to start this one off by saying these two champions tilt me more than Illaoi support, assassin twitch, and Diana.

Yasuo and Riven are two champions that I have been banning for all of my ranked games, and I can't take it anymore. Every game I have to ban yasuo knowing that the enemy players would pick him if I didn't, and when I do, they always have a Riven on their team instead.

Frankly, I didn't really mind Riven as much until I realized about the One-Shotting capabilities of her ultimate move followed by her stun.

Story Of Riven: While playing Kog'Maw botlane, I noticed how fried our Ekko was getting from the enemy Riven, and I thought, "It's okay, we can always fight a Riven together." Big mistake. First teamfight goes by, and all Riven does is ult, flash to me, stun me, and then ults to get an instant-kill on me. I thought it was just a one-time thing, until she was doing it every fight. Even while I had flash, I flashed away, and she had a recovering dash, q hopper, and a flash to catch up to me in case those don't get me in time. We were at a balanced match until Riven came, she shredded through all of our armor and then ended the game with 24 kills under her belt. I find that extremely annoying when I'm trying to play hard to get promotionals. Not only that, but her shield was the size of a quarter of her health, and followed by her lethality and black cleaver, she tore through us while juking all of our attacks.

Story Of Yasuo: When I got into one ranked game, I typed in chat, "I really want to ban yasuo, but I also want to ban Diana as well". My team pressured me into banning Yasuo, while one player who was gold said, and I quote, "People see Yasuo like a God in game, when really there's nothing to worry about. He's just a champion and he cannot waste us if we play hard together." Push comes to shove, the enemy team chooses Yasuo as one of their players top, and the gold player was wasted from his fights with him. By the end of it, Yasuo made our entire team salty, which promoted our game to a big loss afterwards.

This isn't fun, League Of Legends isn't fun with these two, and while it's a one in a million chance of getting them on the enemy team, it still doesn't hide the fact that they can't be killed WHEN they're on their team. I know that this chat will get maybe one comment, two comments tops, but I really want Riot to do something. But they won't, they'll keep them the same for eternity, anyways, who do you think deserves a nerf if they give one?

Yasuo or Riven?

Neither, they're only as good as the person playing them.

If Riven jukes your attacks, thats your fault for missing them. If she couldnt oneshot you, you would melt her - she was fed and you walked into flash range when her ult was up - what did you expect? You are fucking Kog maw for gods sake.

Also its not 'ult, flash, stun, ult', it's far more complex, although I can't blame you for not comprehending her combo.

Riven imo

So I guess that you have trouble understanding why people are kinda rude in this thread, so how about you just try to play Riven? Play her a few times in normals and then go into ranked. I think you will realize that they are not that OP and that the Riven that stomped you likely got boosted/had a friend play on her account (based on her op.gg).

Hopefully not Yasuo.

Considering how many champions are outright overpowered/oppressive, I can't really afford to banning him.

Further nerfs just make it even worse whenever I'm stuck with one on my team.

Both need addressing. I guess Yasuo is in more need for a "nerf," or more importantly, a redesign.

The best thing I've come up with talking to a few of the Yasuo players I was against after games was to make his skills cost Flow. His dash would still be free since it is one of the main ways he generates it, but the idea of building up a resource by moving around is already unique for him and might be nice to see played up more in his design.

Riven would be more along the lines of smaller touchups. Things like Q's cooldown starting after the final cast instead of after the first, especially for how short it is on a manaless champion. Compare to a sort-of-similar mana champion, Fiora, who has similar dashing attack with a 6.4 cooldown initially when it hits. Riven's Q has a 13 second cooldown, and a total of 8 seconds within which the ability can be recast twice with no cooldown, meaning that when Riven uses the third hit of Q, hard CCing the opponent, she can have as little as 5 seconds of cooldown before the ability is up again. Riven's Q also of course deals more damage, and that's bearing in mind Fiora's Q takes up a decent amount of her power budget.

Note that's only at level 1, and Riven has a shield and another hard CC coming up in her following levels, and an ultimate that contains the most of her power of all, all again at no cost and, barring R, with short cooldowns.

Ok take it from me lol (my name) yasuo is pretty fucking broken IN ONE V ONE OR TWOS. Listen as a yasuo main I’ve played many games where I get stomped by their jungler and top laner, and if you think you know pain, play yas from behind, THAT is terrible. Also a lot of people don’t know this but both yas and riven have ALOT of dive, riven in particular being an actual ad caster much less of a fighter. So in order to counter dive, USE MORE DIVE. Or cc lol. There’s been countless times where I’ve been about to go in as riven or yasuo, and BOOM. MALPHITE ULT. then I’m sitting there with my dick in my hand and my 20+ kills getting one shot. Or when I get thresh comboed. Or when I get bard ultied. Sure in solo queue your teammates are all retards with no map awareness but if your silver or lower SO ARE YOU. So man the fuck up and ask your jungler for a camp, it’s pretty reasonable to camp a riven or a yas, and just play with your head, don’t one v one me until you’ve stomped me into the dirt.

I say nerf Yas or rework him to where he doesnt have so much control but maybe is better in higher elo. He's just overloaded.

Rivens cooldowns early on are so low that I got Q spammed off of a cs, so I went for the next one and got Q spammed off of it. wtf, there is no downtime to even grab 1 cs.

Shahamut7/19/2017, 10:35:58 PM1 votes

Neither need nerfs. Yasuo is already being looked at for a GU.

They are not invincible. They both snowball hard if you let them. There are lots of champs like this, they are not special.

LadyRenly7/19/2017, 11:05:09 PM1 votes

yasuo won the event, so clearly hes more overpowered

Yasuo needs the nerf/rework the most.

Riven is all physical damage - basic attacks, passive basic attack bonus, Q, W, and R. Yasuo has physical damage and his E is magic damage.

Riven has cooldowns that are over 10 seconds at the start of the game. Yasuo? 3.6 second Q, 22-23 second W, 0.5 second (one half of a second) E, and about 78 second ult. Riven late game still has about 3-4 seconds on Q while Yasuo has 1.3 on his Q, 0.1 on his E, 10 or so on his W, and 27-28 on his ult.

Yasuo has full lifesteal applied on his Q even when the whirlwind hits several opponents, it is treated like a basic attack so he lifesteals the full amount as if he basic attacked one person. He also has a shield that regenerates during combat up to 510 health, an ult that refreshes his shield and grants 50% bonus armor pen for every critical strike (which is always when he buys phantom dancer and cloak of agility) along with double critical strike chance and a 4 second wall blocking anything thrown at it.

I think the most telling thing is Yasuo can solo baron with 20% lifesteal and Riven cannot solo it at all. He can take herald, baron, and elder dragon all by himself.

To me, a broken champion fits the following criteria:

  1. People not good with this class of champion do better than usual with this champion.
  2. People using this champion can come back from 0-3 or 0-5 slumps to carry and win the game
  3. People using this champion do better than with any other champions even when they are new to them.

Yasuo meets every single item along with 4 others in the game.
