Where do I go to ask why my spells keep pinging instead of killing people!
All my skill shots become signal to be careful instead of hitting people to the point of dead like intended...

Ah, check your keybindings, make sure you don't have a third party application that runs your keyboard making it do different things, and most importantly check if your Ctrl button (or other modifier key for pings) sticks.
Or you can alt tab and then mouse click on the league of legends game instead of alt tabbing back in
This happens to me on occasion. There are a few things I've noticed that cause it. I play on a laptop and use a mouse. My left hand sometimes rests on the left side of my trackpad, which can derp things out. I would suggest turning off the trackpad if you are also on a laptop.
Additionally, sometimes control or alt will get stuck on (might be some combination with the trackpad) and then you end up pinging when you click instead of attacking. Pressing control, alt, escape, and/or clicking with the trackpad seems to fix it.
I don't really know what causes or fixes this, and it hasn't happened to me in a while.
Well, restarting my computer seemed to fix it. So that was weird
