So I'm new to this whole "Ranked" thing, but I won 9/10 of my placement matches playing Vel'Koz Support (and sometimes mid) and Morgana mid.
It puts me at "Rank Bronze 5." Now I checked after every match, and not a SINGLE PLAYER I played against was lower than Bronze 3. Some were even Gold 4/5. So I was beating players ranked above me every time......
How does this all work?

a challenger player on the turkey server received bronze 5 after winning 10-0. Ranked is wonky right now, riot will probably change it so that won't be your rank in season 7.
Yeah placement matches are kind of lame. You can win all of them and still get bronze 5 sometimes. They are really only useful for high elo players, because all bronze and most low silver players will get placed in low bronze even if they do well in placements. I was silver I in season 5 and I got placed in Bronze 2 in season 6.
They intentionally place you low at the start, so you can get the satisfaction of climbing throughout the season (rather than placing you too high and getting demoted repeatedly).
I think they should skip some of them if they decide they are going to put you in Bronze V though, because it really is a waste to play more games if you're getting the lowest rank even if you win.
it doesn't, i won 5/10 as B1 last season and it placed me B2 while i had golds etc. in my games. Riot has no clue what they're doing as far as ranked goes, just learn to live with it.
P.S. If you're placed in bronze be ready for trolls and whiners and blamers. Be ready to be stuck there no matter how well you can carry. 200 games later you'll be in your silver promos.
Also, report EVERY single violation, we need as many of those people banned as we can get, needs to be cleaned up badly.

Odd. I got silver 1 this season for regular ranks. Just finished my flex placements and got silver 1 again after going 7-3.
2 season ego i was silver 4 and last season i didnt play rank now i play rank 7/10 why i take bronze v?whyyyyyyyy????!!!!
Last season was my first season. I started bronze 5 and climbed to silver 2. So the placement in preseason was new to me as well..... They claim how well you play is taken into account, not just W/L.....that said, I just went solo in all 10 matches, went 5/5 and was "placed" in bronze 4...id understand if I played mediocre but over those 10 games, (2 or 3 i admit were bad) but i averaged a 5.31 KDA over all 10 games. So i have no clue how they are factoring placement.
playing ranked pre-season in the new flex queue is the worst decision you could ever make
if you waited till the next season and won 9/10 in soloq you would end high silver if not low gold
Feel free to check my match history. Not only did I not get carried in the vast majority of those matches, but many of them I actually carried as Vel'Koz from the SUPPORT position...............
I honestly think that flex is messed up.
Like something is actually broken about it. A Turkish challenger went 10/10 in his placements and ended up bronze 5.
