Just played a game as Sion support

After one of those non-communicative/interesting champ selects, I ended up going Sion as support. I used to actually do this regularly back in the day of 35 mana E since it let me build 0 damage items and still poke like a monster.

It is still a LOT of fun! You can really help your adc poke using Q as a zone control (aka you start Q right as they go in to poke -- the enemy either has to run, or they get massively crippled when you let go of the smash). You have a great long-range poke with E that, thanks to the new mana regen in the support tree, you can happily sustain all day long. Your W passive still gets some build-up as you use relic shield, plus later game you can easily clear waves solo and then ult into your team through the river/etc for teamfights. Finally, his passive is actually amazing in a duo lane. If you get dived as a sion/adc duo, they will probably have to kill sion first. Otherwise you will be stunning and killing folks under tower for days, or your adc will escape. If they do kill you, though, your adc can easily get a double- or triple-kill because . . . your passive is really freaking awesome when there is an adc taking advantage of the destruction in your wake. They just have to play clean-up.

Anyhow, support Sion is a lot of fun, and it is pretty effective. Give it a shot!

That said, this does not mean that the items I listed in my previous post, found here, should be ignored. I'm just pointing out that he's a fairly good tanky support champ because he has good poke and really does an excellent job protecting his adc.
